Nirvana
Ballyshannon
23/11/2024: The reason it got 4 stars is the premise was cold on arrival at 6pm ( it doesn’t open at 17:30 as stated on trip adviser )
I had the Chicken supreme and better half had the fish and chips. Have to say very tasty.
We were served by Anastasia who was very polite, moving us to a warmer position etc.
I recommend Nivana, but leave to a bit later if weather is cold
09/11/2024: Great restaurant to enjoy a meal in when visiting Ballyshannon

Tête-à-Tête
Ballyshannon
12/03/2025: Nice breakfast. Friendly staff.
Very cold in restaurant.
06/03/2025: A nice place that pleasantly surprised me. From the outside, it looks like a typical fish and chips shop, so at first, I wasn’t sure whether to go in. However, I’m glad I did!
The food exceeded my expectations. The beans were perfectly seasoned, and the baguette was fresh and crispy, making for a simple but delicious meal. The portion size was just right, and everything tasted homemade.
The atmosphere inside was cozy, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. If you’re in the area and looking for a casual but tasty bite, this place is worth checking out!

Owen Roes Bar

29/10/2024: The heart and soul of ballyshannon. Beautiful pint and friendly staff. The place to be over the festival season
17/07/2024: Wonderful hospitality in this small pub in Limavady, the owner really made us feel at home and was also very nice towards our children. Excellent beer (we tried both the blonde and the sorry) with prices significantly lower than other pubs we tried on our tour of Ireland.

Top Pizza
Ballyshannon
08/03/2025: Best kebab 🤤 and pizza 🍕 since first visit, friendly staff and awesome food, I try pizza in Italy 🇮🇹 I try kebab from Turkish etc but not many can compare to my favourite “Top Pizza” btw if you can’t stand waiting 10/15/20 min until your order even small will be make there’s no other place where you can literally get food you need by step in and step out ⏰ salad 🥗 meat 🥩 always fresh not like others 🤢🤮 so don’t waste money and time in any other place as that “take away” will take you another level of taste 🤤
12/10/2024: The best pizza nearby. Very good price. Very fast delivery there

Lakeside Centre
Ballyshannon
20/09/2024: Not as friendly as you might hope it
01/09/2024: Lovely location and well appointed park which seems to be run by a community committee or have some involvement from the Local Authority. Well maintained and clean. However, to call it a Caravan and Camping Site is a bit of a misnomer. It is an excellent Caravan park, but not suitable for tents, particularly, large family tents.
Not their fault, it's just the geography of the site. It has a high water table, and is boggy / marshy in most areas. They also seem to have a heavy leaning towards seasonal pitches for caravan which lead to a relatively empty and souless site. We had planned a three night stay but left after two. Because of heavy rainfall, and poor drainage throughout the site there were puddles / ponding throughout including under the tent which felt as though we were walking on a water bed under foot. Once this started to breach the groundsheet - it was time to go.
On arrival, we were met by two staff members in reception. Once exceptionally friendly and helpful and the other, the polar opposite, surly, grumpy and incommunicative. We (the helpful staff member and I) had some difficulty finding a pitch that wasn't waterlogged. If it was a normal weekend, I would not have accepted the site and moved on elsewhere, either further on to Killybegs or back towards Sligo, or headed home but, unfortunately, we had a family event in Bundoran and had no options. We investigated air bnb / bookings.com and couldn't find an alternative.
Eventually, we settled on a little greenspace between the public carpark (outside the campsite cordon) and the public playground (also outside the campsite cordon). Best of a bad lot. This was the driest space we could find and too small for a large family tent. We ended up with guy wires tied to fencing. It was very close to the N15, a very busy national road which led to a lot of traffic noise throughout the night. It was also more than 30 meters from the EHU point and too far for our standard 15m lead. Therefore, no EHU despite having paid €5 per night for it, up-front. We asked for an extension lead but unfortunately none was available so we'd have to do without. This would have been an ideal opportunity for the surly staff member to offer a refund of the €15 for EHU, but it wasn't forthcoming and given the limited communications and grunts, I didn't press the issue.
As we packed up a day early, in the rain, trying not to splash too much mud on our polycotton tent, the friendly staff member called over to chat. I expressed our disappointment with the sites drainage problems and water logging and made it clear that this was the reason we were leaving early. He was sympathetic and apologetic. I fully accept that the unseasonably wet weather was not their fault however, it should be made clear to tent campers on booking that they are heavily weather dependent in their suitability for tents. We'd booked over a month in advance and a simple phone call, letting us know the site was waterlogged from the bad weather could have given us options, such as a smaller tent set up, or given us more time to find alternative accommodation close to Bundoran.
All in all, a lovely caravan site but, not suitable for tents in all but the driest of weather.
