07/09/2025: Amazing spot. Coffee was excellent. Wife and I had French toast and avocado sourdough with bacon. Food was delicious. Also this place is very dog friendly so our little guy was welcome. 10/10

The service is excellent and atmosphere is pawsitively bubly and and always lively,thanks to being pet friendly đź‘Ś The pancakes and in my opinion "door stopping"frech toast are simply hands down the absolute best !!! If you havnt experienced The red door Cafe's vibe ! Sunday mornings there's a run/family walk 3 or 5km . It's great Craic !!!

22/08/2025: As a doctor working locum in a clinic in Carrickmacross, I recently stayed at the only hotel in town for the second time The Shirley Arms.
I stayed in a double bed room, which was comfortable and well-maintained. However, I encountered an issue with the TV remote, which unfortunately did not work—a common problem I've noticed in many hotels.
The shower only provided very warm water, and I found it difficult to adjust the temperature to something cooler. This was disappointing.
The menu in the dining area is quite pricey, with main dishes starting at €25. I ordered a small plate of prawns along with a glass of White House wine. The prawns were decent, but nothing exceptional for the price.
One aspect that stood out negatively was the breakfast service. The waitress was quite loud, rude and seemed overly bossy, which detracted from the overall experience. A more pleasant and accommodating demeanor would greatly improve the dining atmosphere.
I hope to see enhancements on my next visit.

02/09/2025: Seriously overpriced for the quality of what you get out of there. Save yourself a bundle and shop literally anywhere else and for your own sake avoid the deli counter in here at all costs. €5.50 for roll with rock hard hash browns and rashers the woman behind the counter could barely break apart. Why, in any world, she would see/feel the absolute piss poor quality of their food and still have the gall to serve it to me is unexcusable and unacceptable.

22/04/2025: Our friends took us here while visiting them in Carrickmacross and said this is the best place to go and try your first Guinness. 5 pints of Guinness later, and they were not wrong. It's a really cool pub with very welcoming and friendly staff.

19/07/2025: The avocado toast with egg was disgusting. The eggs were definitely not fresh farm eggs, ive gotten rubbery cubes (??) served with no salt, pepper or any spices on 3 slices of hard avocado which wasnt ripe yet. Also the half of croissant was burnt black.. It was the worst!

18/02/2025: I was on a road trip and ordered takeaway for me and my husband and 2 boys via phone for pickup in store. The phone reception was not too great got the same cold treatment when I was instore to pickup my order. I paid 45 euro for 2 kids meal of chips and sausage, adult meal of fish and chips and a classic beef burger with chips. Nothing was tasty although fresh everything was blunt. I was not given a breakdown receipt of what I paid for . I was asked to sit and the food was just put on the table saying here is your order. There was no cutlery, paper towel or ketchup in the bag. They get a zero for everything except the atmosphere of the place.
I would not recommend.

15/08/2025: Last night we went to Cavallinos the food was fantastic.
We have been to Italy a few times and the food here was reminiscent of the freshest food we had in the markets in Florence.
The
Menu is in Italian style with primo and secondi the water is even Italian.
There were even some vegan options which my partner ordered and they were also lovely.
We will be back.
