Wow... what a great hotel! Fabulous staff, warm welcome, very comfortable bar and restaurant, great food, wonderful accessible wheelchair friendly bedroom... they've thought of everything! Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

So glad I booked this hotel for our short stay in Roscommon. Charming, efficient staff. Fabulous breakfast. Large airy room (with double & two single beds!), massive bathroom. Good shower. Very comfortable bed. Great view. Couldn't fault it. A family run enterprise, so different from sometimes soulless corporate places. Some décor perhaps a little old-fashioned, but I liked that - there was a homely feel. I wish we'd eaten in the restaurant as the pub food we had was a little disappointing.

A True Gem in the Heart of Roscommon
The Abbey Hotel in Roscommon is an old-style treasure that offers charm, comfort, and a true sense of home. The staff are exceptionally friendly, kind, and genuinely down-to-earth — it’s like being among old friends. The bedrooms are spotless, the beds incredibly comfy, and the food is simply delicious. Whether you’re staying for a relaxing break or celebrating a special occasion, the Abbey Hotel is a wonderful choice. A fantastic venue for weddings and a place I’d recommend to anyone looking for a memorable stay.
We stayed for 6 nights to celebrate out wedding Anniversary and they added a little extra touch.

I was in Roscommon visiting family. The Abbey Hotel is perfectly situated within easy walking distance of the train station and town. Service was superb, the room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, the grounds were beautiful and the price was right. I would definitely stay here again.

Great day for my daughter's communion and having dinner and drinks with family. Rooms are dated, and their could have been more outdoor seating. Maybe pergola area.

As the hotel is old, you can expect many "attractions" related to it.
Unfortunately, there are many issues that are purely organizational, such as a kettle set connected to nowhere.
The hotel has ****, but only because of the state of ownership of the swimming pool, which is very neglected.
In the swimming pool changing room with 4 showers, there was no soap in any cabin.
The state of cleanliness in the changing room leaves much to be desired, as does the steam sauna or swimming pool hall.
