We just had a stay at the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town. The town is lovely, lots of food and shopping options and historic sites. A great base if you want to see Donegal.
The hotel was nice, they seem to be sprucing it up at the moment, nice bar and restaurant and the breakfast was lovely. Service at the front desk a little lacking.

Stayed here for a family break and the staff on reception and in the bar and restaurant were great. There was a very rude older woman with short grey hair and a gap in her front teeth that served us at breakfast, rolling her eyes when I asked if I could have a vegetarian option. We were all shocked by this reaction from someone there to serve us and be polite and professional!

Had a great stay. Checked in Tuesday 3rd March room only basis and receptionist was lovely. New carpet being put down in hotel so she gave us a quieter room. Room spotless warm and had 2 great sleeps. Shower and bathroom 100%. Staff really friendly and super location. Looking forward to another stay

I was travelling to Donegal for a week’s holiday with family. We had to make an unplanned stop here due to an incident with our car. The staff here couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly especially to my 4year old son. Nothing was a problem and the hotel is spotless and there is a good selection of food and drink. The location is great right in the centre of town. We will definitely return for a planned stay in the near future! Would definitely recommend this place, nothing was a problem for the staff.

Rooms were spacious. No cartons of water in the room or bathroom accessories like shower caps, sanitary bags, mini kits...at €155 without breakfast I thought was pricey. View was of a wall! Parking is in a nearby car park which if you have a lot of baggage, small kids or difficult walking it could be tricky to get from car park to hotel. Staff were lovely and food in the restaurant was gorgeous.

Stayed one night at The Abbey Hotel, Donegal. The location is good and very convenient for the town. Parking was a bit of an issue, with only street parking at the front or a nearby parking space about a 3-minute walk away. The room was just okay and could use some improvement — there was a noticeable toilet smell, and the mattress really needs replacing as it felt very worn out. Fine for a short overnight stay mainly because of the location, but overall the comfort could be better.
