The best restaurants in Donegal

22/09/2026: Excellent service, food and venue. Be prepared to wait for a table if you haven't booked, this restaurant is clearly popular. The food quality and presentation is 10/10 even when they are extremely busy! Highly recommended.

21/09/2026: Simply fantastic. Super friendly people, great food. I had the lamb stew. For those from Swabia: expect something similar to Gaisburger Marsch. I wouldn't have expected to eat such a good stew outside of Swabia.

14/09/2026: This place is to die for, you must go. Service, vibe and food all 11/10. I got the raspberry scone with clotted butter and jam and a green tea. Great spot!!

12/09/2026: This place made my day! Not that it was bad to begin with but it was totally enhanced by going to the Blueberry Tea room! The vegetable soup and club sandwich were so comforting on a rainy Irish afternoon. Plus all of the staff were attentive to everyone. They were all busting their asses but did it with joy. If you are in Donegal go there! If there is a line wait in it. It is worth it!!

10/08/2026: The only issue with this restaurant is trying to decide what to order! After awhile most menus start looking the same, not here! Unique and very well done! I was lucky to start my stay in Donegal here and it's last place when I leave. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

03/02/2026: Ah lads… Hold up there. I know that we are blessed to live in a country where fresh produce is abundant, and good chefs are numerous… BUT… when you’re lucky enough to eat somewhere that has both of these things, the result is the culinary holy grail. Quay West in Donegal Town is most definitely one of these places… A beautifully diverse menu that showcases the best of Irish beef (Brazilian, Brashmillion…) delicate Italian pasta dishes, and even ventures into a wonderfully fragrant Indonesian curry. Being as close as they are to Killybegs, I couldn’t pass the freshness of the Kinnegar battered Haddock, with fresh tartar sauce and pea purée… Christ. That’s all. The fish must have hopped out of the water of his own accord, and got a taxi from the pier in Killybegs straight in to the Quay West kitchen, and begged to be battered… and being in Donegal, what better battering than a Kinnegar batter?!?! It was utter perfection, complimented by a perfectly tart tartar, and smooth pea which was definitely in several of the 40 shades of green. Also at our table were dishes of Chicken Parmigiana, curry, and the most incredible zesty crab and courgette linguine… I’m not sure what magic was worked to make this sooooo light, but Angels definitely wept. The delicate lightness of the lobster cream was unreal… if this was the base for a chowder or bisque, it would be unbeatable. If you happen to be lucky enough to be in Donegal at dinner time, do NOT pass this place by. The staff are friendly without being too overly attentive, and the view is nearly as perfect as the food. THIS Quay West, is much better than the other Key West, and doesn’t take as long to get to. 13/10 for fresh fishiness. Will dine again. Nomnomnom…

02/02/2026: Really great restaurant in Donegal Town. We were looked after from the moment we walked in the door and right throughout the evening. The menu was wide and varied with plenty of choice for everyone. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and despite being busy, everything was under control and there was no long wait for our food. Hadn't eaten there before but will definitely be back. Really nice atmosphere. Thanks to Jo and team for a lovely evening.

30/07/2026: Wow!! What a delicious and beautiful breakfast! We got the pancakes & the french toast with fresh fruit and bacon was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!

22/08/2026: Cafe inside a small shopping centre. Beef taco was very good. Service also good. Took home some pastries for later and they were tasty.

08/09/2026: Paid €15 for a take away ham & cheese sandwich. It was handed to me in a grease-stained box. It consisted of a chunk of thick, tasteless, old foccacia bread with a sliver of fatty ham, a tiny slice of cheese and lots of lettuce and thickly sliced onion, dry as a bone. Awful. I wanted to return most of it the next morning but they were closed. If you can't get a ham & cheese sandwich right there is no hope.

03/09/2026: Tasty quiche, pasties, croque madames, cakes and other options for dining in or take away. Lots of vegan options. Friendly wait staff and just a good homey feel. Grabbed stuff for take away a few times.

23/06/2026: Nice little B&B room clean and tidy perfect for a one night stop.

16/06/2026: good simple, clean and comfortable rooms. Great breakfast. 5 mins walk to town.

21/09/2026: I went there by chance to take shelter from the rain one late morning. It was a lovely discovery—a place with original decor and great music that made me want to stay longer…

09/09/2026: Visitors from NY. We were in there on Sunday at 10:30pm and there was a guitarist that was changing the lyrics of songs to make homophobic slurs. For example, he was singing “queers” instead of “years”. Really sad and disappointed that the pub allowed it so we left and won’t be back. A shame because the bar is beautiful.

10/08/2026: I didn't expect food with such amazing flavor and at such a good price! 👌🏻 Don't miss it! We ordered fish and chips, Cajun chicken, and oven-baked salmon. Absolutely fantastic, and the service was fast! 👏🏻

06/08/2026: Some Asian dishes on the menu like gado gado, satay, and noodles, which is a nice change from the standard Irish food. It was very tasty. The service was a bit disorganized.

31/08/2026: Food was cold and reheated and the lady at the counter said they had no ice cream left after we had placed an order of two ice cream, so she gave us a refund, and then 5 mins later we were sat eating our food and she served someone 3 ice creams. 20 mins later she served 2 other people ice cream. Very annoyed by this . why is say no to us and then serve multiple people. My friend waited 30 mins for a nugget and chip , ( it's 9:30 at night by the way. Still had a good bit of staff on and they all were standing there....) when I went up to flag this issue they said oh the Order was sitting on the counter and this staff member said oh ye I just found that lying there I will drop it down to you In a few mins. Very poor customer service overall

31/08/2026: I hate to say this but the supermac beef patties are terrible, the bread and dressings perfect. I had heard how great this place was but as fore I was disappointed. Now I hear the chicken is much better so I will be giving it another go. But definitely not the burgers.
