The Gateway Lodge,Donegal Town in Donegal

First the good: The location is great— 1 block walk into the quaint village, with some really good restaurants, a wonderful bakery and a few fun shops. Our room was clean and the bathroom had been nicely updated. Now the not-so-good: The young woman working reception was not at all friendly— not rude in anyway, just not welcoming. The bathroom shower didn’t have soap, shampoo or conditioner— we went to reception to ask and they said that they didn’t have any there either, so we bought some in town— but it’s standard for a hotel even of a lower class rating to supply these basic amenities. The whole vibe of the property was just ‘meh’— fine? For the price it wasn’t good value for money.

Great service. Nice rooms. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was also very good.

Rooms could be less noisy, (hard plastic floors), need proper clean and the service is poor. Rather snooty attitude we found. The breakfast is a strange limited selection to maximise profit.

Lovely big spacious clean rooms. The rooms aren't sound proof though and you can hear conversations of guests either side throughout the night. Breakfast was delicious. Lots of parking and conveniently located within walking distance of town.

Great location, three minutes walk from the center of town. Clean, modern rooms, nice beds and bathrooms. Good breakfast - but ask for the a la carte menu if you don’t want the €16 set hotel deal. Staff were distant - front desk staff not very helpful or welcoming.

Just checked into this little Gem. Such incredible value. With hotels now charging well over €100 - €200 this little Gem is just lovely at a very reasonable rate.. beautiful Beautique hotel, lovely decor, cosy warm room and very clean and thoughtful finishings. Absolutely lovely place to stay over if you are ever visiting Donegal 👌👍

Perfect place to stay when visiting Donegal Town. Just a short walk to the town centre. The fob entry is great when coming back after 9pm in the evening. The room was bigger than expected and very comfortable. Breakfast was had in Blàs and was delicious 😋
