Great and friendly staff and quiet location very close to town center. Excellent breakfast!

Beautiful place, room was large and breakfast was delicious. Small walk to the Reel Inn which has fantastic live music 7 nights a week. This was our best night out in Ireland!

A very nice lodge close to the city centre of Donegal, rooms are nice and cosy, and the receptionist was lovely Breakfast is the only "disappointing" thing, a bit pricey for the quantity

American style "motel" rooms. Clean, with great beds. Bar, restaurant closes at 17:00, decent location for walk into town.

The location is fantastic. It was a quick 5 minute walk into the heart of Donegal. We parked our rental car in their large gravel parking lot(free to park btw 🥳) and didn't move it again until checkout. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. We got some local recommendations and they were kind enough to get us some ice from the bar for our room. I'm giving a slight ding on the rooms simply because of the lack of soundproofing. We were trying to fall asleep but we heard lots of banging, yelling, and stomping coming from a nearby room. It was actually a bit upsetting because there were clearly other hotel guests yelling profanities at the people making the initial noises. The incident itself is no fault of the hotel's. But, clearly there are thin walls, windows, etc. That being said, I would still recommend it here and stay again.

You will not receive a warmer welcome than from the lady on reception here. Genuinely friendly, very kind. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and warm on this chilly March night 2026. Beautiful centre rose on the ceiling, impecibly decorated, very big comfortable bed, dresser, lovely table and seating area in our superior double room. Breakfast for 2 is included for 160 euros, it is worth every penny. I highly recommend this lovely hotel in beautiful Donegal Town.

A lovely hotel, very well located near Donegal Castle. The staff were pleasant. The only slight drawback is that the rooms aren't very well soundproofed. But if we're ever in the area again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel.

Stayed 6th 7th March Could not say a bad thing about my stay Breakfast alone is worth the stay. Would i stay again 100% Yes Staff on another level nothing was a bother

The Gateway Lodge is a fantastic place to stay in Donegal it's a 5min walk to the town centre it has lovely views great staff they are so helpful I can't praise them enough, overall a great location and great value for money
