Akayu in Portlaoise

I have to preface this as someone who travels to Japan very often that I would never expect the same levels of food here as I would in an establishment in Tokyo. The ramen here isn't the best, but the other dishes are an absolute delight. The gyoza is some of the best I've ever had in Ireland and the Ebi Tempura was absolutely to die for. The Sushi was as expected from an Irish-Japanese; a bit overpriced but still quite tasty. It's a great restaurant and worth visiting, if you stay away from the Ramen. The staff are very friendly and the service was excellent in a very cosy, relaxing atmosphere too.

A friend brought me to Akayu about 2 years ago and I can safely say this is now my favourite place to dine out. The food is always delicious and the staff are so warm and friendly. Highly recommended this little gem. 👌

Stopped of in portlaoise on the way back from the cork jazz festival last week. I went for the beef Ramen. Enjoyable

I recommend this place 100% The best ramen I've tasted in Ireland, the prices are normal Orders are made quickly, friendly staff and a good atmosphere in the establishment

DELICIOUS dishes, we tried many and they're to die for. I live an hour away but I would definitely travel just to eat here again! The place is small but cosy, and the staff was great. Loved it! Thanks fot all :)

compared to Yo Ramen in Dublin , ramen tastes like a rinsed pot of ramen .
