Akayu in Portlaoise

We are regular users of this restaurant especially at the weekends and love it - however last two weeks it’s been dreadful - last week we put it down to an off night / but yesterday most of it went into the bin - nasi goreng was disgusting - the chicken katsu had the same fate and the spice bag was cold with stringy chicken - 65 euros wasted - will not be frequenting again

This unprepossessing place served me the best green curry I ever ate. All of the food was fresh and delicious.

My favourite restaurant in Portlaoise. We are more inclined to order takeaway from here but we have eaten in a couple of times. The food is beautiful, it is always good quality. The takeaways are consistently good. My favourite things to order are the salt and chilli chicken, salt and chilli prawns and the rainbow. They also do a fantastic yaki soba and the curries and bento boxes are fabulous. The staff are absolutely lovely, the friendliest service in town. Can't praise this wonderful place enough.

Fab little diner and takeaway. Friendly, prompt service with a decent menu (including kids options). Priced very well. Licensed as well so able to get a wee beer too!

Cons. Overcrowded. Pretty difficult to find a parking spot near to it. Very small premises which should be renovated. Very limited selection of drinks. And some of them aren't available. Pros. Not too expensive. Food is made pretty quick. Enough friendly multi language talking staff. Tasty sushi 😋

My go to place for some good and quick food in Portlaoise. I keep getting the same thing by mistake because I always forget what I got last time, but hey if it works it works.

Very nice food and reasonable priced 10/10 would recommend, staff are very nice, the restaurant is small but very cozy, cant recommend enough!

Loved the food here. Was a bit apprehensive because it’s Portlaois, but the food was so tasty. We didn’t have a booking but were sat down straight away! The sushi is top notch and would definitely recommend their Chicken Katsu Curry it was very flavourful

Tasty food, unfussy surroundings and friendly staff...very enjoyable!

The assorted sushi platter was a satisfying 2 person meal, well presented. I mean, I really ate with my eyes first that day!! A Fabulous splash of color on the plate. The staff waited on us professionally and amicably. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.
