Akayu in Portlaoise

We love Akayu. I have been to many sushi restaurants around the world and here is on par with the best. Excellent Sushi, service always great. Both eat in & takeaway is always consistent. There are some who mention the sushi is expensive. That is incorrect. If you have the mindset that cheaper is better, then you shouldn’t be eating sushi.

Picked up 2 takeaway dishes when passing through Portlaoise. Service was really great, had ordered online and received a phone call when the food was ready ahead of scheduled time. The staff were very friendly and helpful on collection. The chicken red curry noddle box and beef yummy rice box were both absolutely delicious. The meats were so tender and the veg were so fresh, it was such a tasty and yet healthy meal, such a refreshing change when eating on the move, will definitely eat here again.

Such a cute and lovely place!! The interior is beautiful. The sushi is great and tastes so delicious!! Great price for what you get. Definitely my favourite sushi place so far. The staff are always lovely and welcoming. I would recommend :)

I was excited to try this place as you usually have to go to dublin to get decent sushi and this place was recommended to me. Very expensive for what you get (I think it was 18-19 for one large roll) and the taste just wasn’t there. You know good sushi when you try it because all the flavours pop, but this was missing something

Service was fantastic from two lovely people tonight. I went in by myself and was served quickly (black bean sauce with chicken). The chicken was heavenly, I've not had anything like it. Such a lovely restaurant to go to
