Fabulous service and delicious food in a beautiful, cozy setting. Lovely fresh flowers, stunning cakes, and great quality Irish produce. A charming spot with some items available to buy like James, honey, tonic, salts, soaps and more. Definitely worth a visit!

The Greek yoghurt and granola bowl was good, the yoghurt was a bit too runny compared to other high quality versions. The pork belly sandwich was a bit underwhelming for €19.

I mean this is truly a special place. Looking forward to coming back. Food, drinks, vibe and service are spot on. Be sure to make reservations at night- but often you can get in during the day.

We went to Ard Bia for our last meal at Galway…. It was a very good decision to say the least! The establishment felt very homely, which was only accentuated by the amazing service of the staff. The 3 dishes we ordered stole the show. Would STRONGLY recommend a visit to any fellow traveller looking for a bite :)

Small cozy atmosphere, right at the Spanish Gate on the river. Terrific meal and incredible desert. Reasonably priced for a very nice meal out.

Ard Bia was one of the absolute highlights of our time in Galway. The staff here are incredible — genuinely warm, friendly, and so welcoming from the moment you walk in. The space itself is small and cozy, with just a handful of tables and a private room, which gives it that intimate, tucked‑away feel. I’d 100% go back. They offer two specialty cocktails and a wine list, and while the cocktail selection is limited, the wines are unique and fantastic — definitely worth exploring. The food was outstanding across the board. The monkfish scampi isn’t what you might picture, but it’s fantastic — super crispy and full of flavor. And you have to get the bread: tomato focaccia or brown bread, then topped with the fennel, thyme, and maple butter were all unforgettable. The bavette steak was delicious, and the mashed potatoes were truly out of this world. The sea trout was incredibly fresh; just a heads‑up that the gremolata is spread over the whole dish, so it ends up almost poached in olive oil — worth noting for anyone sensitive to that, but the flavor itself was excellent. Definitely end the night with the affogato and the shortbread cookies (chef’s kiss). Who doesn’t like to dunk their dessert? Highly recommend, would absolutely come back.

13/04/2026: Supertasty vegan dishes! A bit on the expensive side but the portions are big.
01/04/2026: First night in Galway and we wanted something warm and flavorful. Had this place bookmarked when trip planning and were so pleased it lived up to the expectations. Great atmosphere and within a minute we were offered a vegan menu- woo! Corn Ribs - these were good but the next starter stole the show. Spicy chips - fries with the most tantalizing spices. We devoured this and if we didnt have other dishes coming, would have easily eaten another plate! Sichuan Sauce with seitan- darker sauce with seitan chunks that added great richness and depth to a slightly sweet peppery base. We also had a tofu dish that uses a tomato base sauce - I cant remember the name of this other than it began with an “M”. This was a great compliment to the seitan dish. We dug into the mains before I could get a good picture 😀 Great atmosphere and so cool to hear the rushing water down the river just in front of the restaurant when you walk out.
