Had a great experience at Bacchus, great views, atmosphere with very welcoming and kind staff.
The food is exceptional and is of Michelin level quality, Bacchus is unforgettable and genuinely is the best restaurant in Athlone.

The location is great, with a lovely view overlooking the water—perfect for a relaxing meal.
The food was good. We ordered the tandoori lamb, poached pear salad, and Irish seafood linguine, and each dish was flavorful and well-prepared. While the selection of kid-friendly drinks was a bit limited, the ones available were enjoyable. The service was friendly and attentive and we enjoyed our meal.

The best meal of our 7 day Ireland Trip! This was fantastic. And a do not miss when in Athlone.
It’s situated on the river front, and decorated well. Service was great. But the food. Unbelievable.
Starters to main, to dessert, 10/10. Steak, starter bread, salad, and pide along with dessert was $88. We wish we had ate here one night sooner as a previous place nearby was $100 and not 1/10th as good.

I went to lunch with some friends, and the place has incredible views. We ordered seafood risotto, but they brought us seafood pasta without a word of warning. It was still delicious. For dessert, we had baklava, which we also really liked.
Bacchus remains one of my favourite spots in Athlone, situated just beside the bridge crossing the Shannon, offering lovely riverside views from the window seating. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the service is consistently friendly and polite.
On this visit with friends, we enjoyed a delicious meal starting with the Turkish garlic sausage and Caesar salad, both full of flavour and beautifully presented. For mains, the Turkish pide pizza was a standout, and I thoroughly enjoyed my garlic bread starter followed by a classic pepperoni pizza. The food was fresh, generously portioned, and washed down perfectly with a few drinks.
This wasn’t my first time dining here I had previously visited with my wife and was pleased to find the quality just as high as I remembered. It’s clear the standard hasn’t slipped.
Overall, I’d happily recommend Bacchus to anyone looking for great food, attentive service, and a scenic spot to unwind. I’ll certainly be back again.
