An authentic restaurant in the heart of Rathdrum, built in old stones. The staff is welcoming and friendly, the food is delicious. We had a great time here !
The warm welcome makes all the difference! So many restaurants make this mistake of having a completely wrong person on the phone when booking or at the door. It's a complete turn off, no matter how good the chef. At Bates Nua , the welcome is genuinely warm and inviting and ensures that diners will want to return
And then along comes the food! The starter of garlic mushrooms on a bed of beautifully fresh greens was divine. As was the pork and duck pâté, also a great choice. We picked a robust Montepulciano which met our expectations well. We both chose the pan-seared fillet of salmon with creamy spinach and mashed potatoes. My mouth is watering at the memory! Desserts of tiramisu and apple pie ended a beautiful meal expertly cooked and presented
There is outdoor seating in a quiet area, sun drenched if we're lucky!
Indoors is cosy with a fire on winter days.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful. I will be recommending this lovely restaurant to all. Cards accepted, but cash welcome
25/10/2024: Great location in Rathdrum after spending the day in Glendalough. The pub was wonderful and the food for dinner was superb! They had a wonderful full breakfast in the morning that was not only filling, but was cooked to order.
13/10/2024: Visited for breakfast, staff lovely, food excellent. Coffee and tea priced separately. Come on, beverages should be included in the breakfast !
