Berkana Bakery in Waterford

Our new lunch location in Waterford City. Have been generally disappointed with cafes in Waterford, although there are some decent ones. But this little gem is different. They bake their own bread and would be insulted if you asked them to toast their sandwiches. Don't. It is gorgeous and toasting would ruin it. They also baked their own pastries. I'm not a great fan of sweets, but these are just different and I enjoyed it. And to top it off they make artisan chocolate. Feel free to ask for an explanation of how they do it. And the coffee is super.

Always love a visit to Berkana. Excellent baking and coffee. A real Italian experience. Great chocolates too. Lovely location on the quays in Waterford.

The most wonderful bakery, cafe and chocolatier where I had a delicious sandwich made with their own bread. The coffee was perfect as I like a mild coffee and the desert section was so good I had to bring some home with me along with a loaf of their bread. I'll be back.

Fantastic food and great service

So worth a visit - called in today got vegetarian special sandwich and haven’t tasted anything like it before - fresh tasty ingredients- pure mouth watering. And they serve large mugs of coffee- delighted …got Oreo brioche to take home and it was was so fresh and delicious

Really delicious baked goods - we had the cherry strudel with custard and a lemon muffin and both were outstanding.

Had lunch here a few days ago. Wah what a fantastic lunch. You know when you get a mug of tea. Fabulous. The sambo made on there own bread. Highly recommend this gem of a place. 💯. Great value too.

Wonderful Italian Bakery and sandwich shop. The bread is soooo fresh and the pastries tasty. As a bonus they offer two coffee flavors options . The owners work the counter and talk passionately about their creations a real gem 💎 🙌 👌

If you are in Waterford or just passing through don’t miss out a visit to Berkana Bakery/Cafe you will not be disappointed. It is like bakery heaven. Delicious apple strudel, muffins, cookies and selection of savoury pizza flat bread and sandwiches. The girl who served us was so helpful and friendly and great to recommend choices if you can’t make up your mind. Also very good value and it was so good we returned before leaving Waterford to buy some baked good to take home. This is a gem not to be missed when in Waterford
