Biddy O'Dowd's in Athlone

This place is the best pub in town. Think Cheers, but in Ireland. The bartender and locals were super friendly, telling jokes and giving local recommendations. We spent a lot of time here and plan to go back later tonight after dinner. Would HIGHLY recommend coming here for a pint or chocolate espresso martini.

We had the best craic in there with the bar staff, Shannon and bar man Chris on the 16th of July 2025. We were made welcome for the minute we walked in and the other Customers were very friendly. Best of luck Shannon on your travels and we look forward to hearing all about them on our return. Because we will definitely return. Best pub in Ireland. Stopped in and felt welcomed by the bartender and locals. Ordered a toastie to go, Wow! Best sandwich we ever had. This place is a hidden gem. Highly recommend.

Gottta love a pub quiz on a Monday

This is a proper old school pub. Definitely call in for a pint if you're visiting Athlone. Very nice staff and patrons.

The 2 man band that were playing were unbelievable, they could sing any song and make it sound excellent! They also interacted well with the crowd. I tried 2 different cocktails, and they were both delicious.
