Bistro 85 in Dunboyne

Always good food Family owned very nice people I love upstairs not a fan of downstairs as sitting beside traffic flow.

I previously visited this restaurant and was very disappointed with the quality of the food and most importantly the attitude of the maitre d. I did a review at the time and for some mysterious reason it has been deleted. Based on feedback from some friends I decided I would give it a go again as it is the only restaurant in the village that is quiet and comfortable. Although we had booked well in advance and had asked for a table downstairs we were told we had to go upstairs with no explanation or apology from the maitre d. As it turned out the staff upstairs could not have been more helpful or friendly and took our order immediately. The bottle of wine (a cheap Primitivo) was quite expensive but drinkable. The steak for the Surf and Turf was ribeye rather than fillet and came medium well instead of medium rare as ordered. All in all the food was edible but the friendly young waiting staff carried the evening. The Maitre D should stay at home and let the staff run the show. He has no personality and certainly one of the grumpiest I’ve met

Just walked nine as a family of four and we were accommodated with a cosy table immediately. Food was excellent. Very tasty and great portion and the service was friendly and super efficient. We will definitely be back soon.

Food was very delicious. Don't get food like that often in Ireland. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Such a nice place.

Great spot that’s an easy walk away from the Dunboyne Spa & Hotel. Had the surf & turf special, with prawns and ribeye. Ordered the ribeye rare, and it was cooked perfectly. It came with a lovely sauce and rich, creamy mashed potatoes underneath. 10/10 would recommend!
