Lovely little bistro hidden above various local businesses. We were treated excellently from the door by attentive, friendly staff, and ordered from their excellent wine selection. The ambiance is impeccable, and the decor is sleek. Everything about this place is top class, excepting, unfortunately, the food. Each course was good - simple and diligently prepared, but nothing special - the type of food you'd expect at a good pub. But at these prices, I expect more.

O'Neill's

01/10/2025: You order from the bar food/drinks. The service behind the bar was slammed but did not take very long considering. The cottage pie (beef with veggies with mashed potatoes) was AMAZING
28/09/2025: Very cool atmospheric pub. I recommend it. The food is delicious, the portions are large. It's a bit unusual that you have to pay at the bar, then they bring it. You have to take a seat yourself. A wide selection of beers. We had pies and stew, everything is traditional.

Lord Lucan

28/08/2025: Have a Feast Like a Gangster - The Lord Lucan The Lord Lucan is a great traditional restaurant situated in Lucan, West of County Dublin. It belongs to Chawke Group, a chain running Pubs and Restaurants across Dublin. Access is easy via Newcastle Road (leading South from Lucan village) or from the N4. The impressive traditional architecture takes the centre of the street showing the name in big golden ornamental letters. Lounge and restaurant have separate entry doors. The big stylish hall carries the bar in the middle of the room. Chandeliers cover the ceiling giving a dimmed light. The atmosphere is rather cosy, even if it gets busy. The whole venue is fitted with smooth leather seats in a traditional style. High tables are very convenient for taller persons, unlike other traditional places. While waiting for staff a look on the special board is recommended. Vegetable Soup €7.50 The only kind of soup offered on Irish menus in restaurants. roast beef €18.50 A specialty Beef, Vegetable & Ale Pie €18.50 A specialty not found in every place. For a cozier environment choose a small separate room adjacent to the bar, it is secluded and very intimate. But sometimes staff, especially when busy, might overlook you, as it is outside the view angle. This time we preferred to sit in a corner within the main room. The menu fills one page, containing 21 dishes plus salads and sides. Each of them is a speciality! From Buttermilk Chicken Burger €19.00, Bill Chawkes Legacy Lager Fish & Chips €21.00 to Vegetarian Liguini €16.00, the choice is yours. A various choice of starters between € 7.00 and €12.00. And here comes the surprise. As I knew some of the dishes already, this time I went for an experiment and ordered only a starter! It is priced 28.00, quite much for a starter, called Lucan Ribs & Wings Combo. What I received was exceeding my expectations. The meals arrived within 25 minutes, the time to prepare a good meal. A huge wooden platter was served loaded with delicious juicy crisp chicken wings, chunky Honey glazed Ribs in a spicy Soya Sauce, accompanied by a huge jacket potato with floating butter, corn on the cob and Coleslaw. We ordered also Roast Hereford Beef €18 and it was very tender and succulent, coming with Creamy Mashed Potatoes and Roast Potatoes in Duck Fat, an assortment of Vegetables and Red Wine Sauce. Lord Lucan has a fully licensed bar. Here is the background to the name of the restaurant: John Bingham, known as Lord Lucan, was an eccentric British heredity peer and gambler, who lived in the area and vanished in 1974 after supposedly killing his children’s nanny intending to murder his wife. There is a vast choice of wine, cocktails and draft beer available. I paid for my Guinness €6.40, that is within the reasonable range. Our bill came up to €59.10, makes an average of €29.50 incl. drinks per person. Lord Lucan hosts regular live music nights. The staff are friendly and efficient. Strongly recommended.
