We enjoyed our meal in the restaurant which was full of locals enjoying a good night out. The beef and salmon main courses were excellent and we had an unusual but absolutely delicious fruit custard dessert.

Absolutely superb, this place feels like a real labour of love. Some serious skill in the kitchen too - everything was just so perfectly cooked, be it fish, meat, veg, dessert......a joy.
Bistrot 1798 is excellent. We dined there this evening. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with lovely fresh flowers on every table. I ordered fish of the day with king prawns in a butter sauce. It was served with fresh vegetables and finely mashed potato. It was beautifully cooked and presented. My husband had roast duck with cherry sauce, mash and fresh vegetables. The half a duck was fully boned and cooked to perfection. For dessert I had Affogato, again excellent and Malcolm had profiteroles which he enjoyed. Went to Bistrot 1798 for the first time and I can safely say I’ll be returning. It’s a small restaurant but great for having a chat over the delicious food offered. I went for the lamb shank and it was melt in your mouth delicious. You could easily walk past this place but it’s definitely worth seeking out.
