01/06/2026: Just WOW! This was a beautifully surprising experience start to finish. I was fortunate to get in for a booking on the same day, though I would definitely recommend prebooking. It is a preset menu, yet I would say the most incredible quality and presentation you could ever hope to get for the price. (This offering was 2 courses for €55, 3 courses for €62). Aoife was delightful through the entirety of the service, beginning with her spot-on recommendations and tastings of wine to select my bottle. The chef's snack started off with an impressive bang- sustainable use of "scraps" made into a delicious mouse, cradled within a parm crisp and served on a bed of smoked pine. Absolutely stunning! I'll honestly be thinking about this bite for a long while. It was followed by one of the most tasty bread courses I've ever had--honey rosemary bread (I've got to figure out how to recreate at home) with salted Irish butter, olive oil and an elderberry balsamic vinegar. I could've honestly only eaten that and still been happy! Next was a cheese souffle with leek fondue which was decadent and flavorful. My main course was a 12 hour cooked featherblade of Irish beef that didn't even require a knife. The unexpected toppings of black garlic, maple bacon and BBQ crisps were creative and deliciously unique. The sides were of generous portions- a potato mash with greens, fresh mixed veg and braised carrots and an impressive stacked and fried potato. The palate cleanser of a raspberry and lemon lolli-popcicle was a delightfully refreshing treat to finish it off. I took my dessert to-go of a dense, dark chocolate cake with raspberry. Gorgeous meal, I honestly had so much to take away after (including half the bottle of wine I didn't finish). Aoife was sweet enough as well to send me with recommendations for my visit and I expect her suggestions will be spot on. Overall, I consider this a tremendous value for the quality, experience and service and I would be thrilled to return! Thank you!

07/06/2026: We ordered today the prawn salad and one of the daily’s specials. It was delicious. The service was great (Raphael the head of the waitress recommended us those two dishes). Really great, obliging and friendly service! We can definitely recommend it!! The surrounding was nice and not too loud. Great work gluten-free options (at least 70% of the menu) as well.

05/04/2026: Went there good Friday got 2 cod and chips. Only live 2 mile away about 3 minutes. Got home opened up got ready too eat the fish wasn't cooked fully the batter was pure soft and the chips were not cooked. This is the place everyone is talking about how good the food is. I wouldn't give it to my dog incase he got sick so gave the whole lot to the birds. If I had eaten that stuff they call cooked food I'd would have got food poisoned.

30/06/2026: Beautiful book store, the staff are so kind and helpful, there is also a coffee shop upstairs, you can sit have a coffee and read the book you just baught.

22/06/2026: An amazing little bookstore with fantastic staff. While traveling in Ireland, I wanted to buy a book on the native wildflowers. Several people recommended the Castle Bookshop, and I see why. They didn't have the book on the shelves because the book was being reprinted and the old copies had been pulled. But the clerk gave us a beautiful calendar of Ireland as a consolation. Ten minutes later, after we had left the store and stopped in for an ice cream cone a few stores down the street, the clerk found us to let us know they had found a copy of the book. He had heard us talking about buying an ice cream as we left the store, and when his coworker found a copy in the back room, he ran down the street looking for us. Now that is what I call going above and beyond.

12/04/2026: Lady Fire Slice is very accommodating, very personable, makes fantastic and delicious pizzas. You cannot lose by ordering here. So to get this out of the way... Lady Fire Slice doesn't do pineapple. Love or hate it, and wifey does. But she is so accommodating, and because wifey brought pineapple chunks along was quite happy to add the toppings to her pizza. Wifey had the Ham, mushroom and cheese with extra pineapple. And although it's not everyone's tea, hubby has to admit it works rather well with ham and cheese pizza. Hubby went with the classic pepperoni pizza. And really liked the flavours, really tasty. This pace does some great pizzas, you'll get no complaints there. There are some minor inconveniences... Which boil down to its a pizza truck and the limits there. Which means eating it hot and order ahead of time is the only way to do it. We live 25 minutes away, and food doesn't last, it wasn't the same when we got home. No fault on Fire Slice, but is something to think about. Because the truck was behind the Bridge st bar, there just wasn't any good place to sit and eat. So home needs to be close by. Secondly you need to order in advance as a artisanal pizza needs time. We recommend turning up to collect, to ensure it's hot and fresh. Also it is worth noting that keeping a pizza hot is just as difficult, so being punctual is a must too. All in all, you'd be missing a treat it you didn't try pizzas here. And if you must with pineapple you need to bring your own. On a personal note, deep pan pizzas are the best. I miss those, but everyone loves stone baked thin crusts, and I understand why... But hope deeppans come back.

16/12/2025: Very disappointed with hygiene standards Was in Café M in Castlebar recently. Food itself was fine, but the hygiene practices I observed were poor and hard to ignore. I watched food preparers carrying out multiple different tasks while wearing the same gloves throughout — including scratching and then continuing food prep — without changing gloves or washing hands. Gloves are only effective if they’re changed regularly; clean hands are far better than dirty gloves. I don’t blame the staff on the floor — this looks like a training and management issue rather than individuals not caring. However, food hygiene has to be taken seriously, as it directly affects customer safety. I hope management review their procedures and provide better training, as this is easily fixable but very important. Also the coffee had a slightly sour taste. This is common on a machine that needs a little TLC.

04/01/2026: It's a lovely place, but there was at least 5number games in the arcade that were not working. There were no signs up on the games to say they were broken, it was only when I put the money into the games was when I found out they were broken. There no was no refund on my money, there was no staff checking up on the games to check if they were working and there was no obvious place/signage to/how complain to a staff member. Apart from that everything else was perfect.
