Way over priced for what they serve. Tables too close together, very noisy.

Excellent food. We had cod with sauteed potatoes, green salad, chunky tartare sauce and a side of carrot and coriander slaw as well as pate with toast, cranberry sauce and a mixed leaf green salad with a delicious dressing. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.

The food was lovely but it’s busy so you almost feel like have to run out the door as you finish because they’re watching you. I didn’t get to finish my drink because I felt uncomfortable. The table could use a clean in between customers. Our table was sticky and full of sugar

I had the beef bourguignon in Rua on New Antrim Street and it was absolutely exceptional. Rich, slow braised beef that fell apart with a fork, deep red wine jus that was glossy and full of flavour, and a beautifully crisp pastry top that gave it just the right amount of texture. The balance was perfect, comforting but refined. It felt like proper cooking, not just something reheated and sent out. The roast carrots were sweet and tender, the gravy generous without drowning the plate, and everything was seasoned exactly as it should be. It is the kind of dish that makes you slow down and actually enjoy every bite. Rua consistently delivers quality, but this was one of those plates that genuinely stands out. If it is on the menu, order it. Castlebar is lucky to have it.

Dining Room

14/07/2026: What a wonderful evening! My friend from Westport invited me here, and I was genuinely impressed. The food was outstanding from start to finish. I chose the special of the day – halibut with a lobster bisque – and it was absolutely delicious. I especially loved that they even brought me an extra jug of the bisque, which was such a lovely touch. The starter was equally delicious: perfectly cooked scampi served on a fresh salad. The restaurant itself is quite small, which gives it a warm, intimate atmosphere. I felt very comfortable throughout the evening, and the service was friendly and attentive. If I’m back in Castlebar, I will definitely come here again. Highly recommended!
03/07/2026: We picked Dinning Room as a restaurant for our small wedding meal. From the start Shirley was so accomodating with times, they designed a custom menu especially for our occasion which was a lovely touching gesture. The food was amazing every dish tasted amazing from the bread to starters, mains and desserts. Staff were lovely and kind, very professional. The restaurant itself is a lovely small intimate place great for a special occasion to celebrate. Lovely touch also from Kevin taking time to come out and talk to us. Lovely people, beautiful restaurant and the most amazing food.

bridge st

31/01/2026: This is were all the cool kids go... of course I noticed it was the kids of the 90s. The best generation, But still cool nonetheless. A great bar with some great cool hide away tables. This allows for decent chats and socialising, not provided by Bridge St, you have to bring your own. Normally Irish bars have live bands, no shade as the kids say. But sometimes you want a bar with a great selection of drinks and to be able to speak to the people on your table. This is the place. Staff are friendly and intuitive, not leaving you thirsty. Also there is a great outdoor area which allows for eating. There is even a food truck that parks right up to the outside tables. So there isn't much of a walk for a take away pint and meal. Also if you prefer other takeaway places, they all say that you can eat their food there too. The outside place is sheltered, but I wouldn't like to test it during a downpour.
