we drove out to Bray from Finglas on a sunny Saturday afternoon to enjoy the sun and eat in the Blue Bar. We had heard so much about the place that we wanted to see what all the fuss was about. As you can imagine the town was packed as was the bar but we managed to get a table quickly enough. After studying the menu for a bit, herself decided we would get a selection of starters including the much talked about famous wings. so we ordered Gambas pil pil, Dublin bay tacos, Bang Bang Langoustines, Potato Bravas and the Buffalo Wings. A wide enough selection of what was on offer and the food was nice especially the tacos. The presentation and flavours were good and the place itself is clean with very helpful and polite staff. However we did think that the famous wings were overcooked and the meat dry and chewy which was a letdown having heard so much about them. We weren't the only ones as the table next to ours complained about theirs and even said that beneath the sauce they were burnt. Overall we found that the food we good but definitely not worth driving all the way down to Bray. The biggest surprise was yet to come as the bill rolled in at €110 with a couple of pints of Guinness each on it at €7.30 a pint. The prices exceed a lot of places I regularly visit in Dublin for both food and drink yet the quality of both doesn't match up. We won't be going back out and don't recommend you do either. There are plenty off good food places more reasonable around Dublin.
Pleasant dining experience. The staff are attentive and all enjoyed their food. The Chicken Supreme was very flavourful and the prawn tacos appetizer was great.
Always a lovely food experience in Blue Bar. My only negative - the font on the menu is so difficult to read in the light, so a torch and glasses are a must at my age! Good job I usually know what I want to eat. Can't fault anything else, that's why we are return customers.
we come to this place from Lucan every two months and we are always very happy. The service is always very good and friendly. The food is very tasty. I recommend 10 out of 10
Very enjoyable experience. Food is excellent and staff were very friendly and professional. We were there for lunch on a busy Sunday and everything was prompt and under control. Happy to go again and very happy to recommend!
17/05/2025: A great and very inspiring restaurant in Skerries (beautiful town north of Dublin) . First time I saw it, while walking by, it inspired me to make a drawing (see it attached). The second time, while having a pizza and a pasta dish with my wife, it confirmed my first inspiring moment (see the second drawing). The inspiring place was well supported with a very high quality simple food (real Italian style). When I meet his owner (John) everything was clear: Simplicity, sensitivity and love for things well done.
