Slow, slow, slow. Food is edible, but service is ......? Too many people sitting at tables taking up space. Somebody left a double pram blocking the entrance.

Easily THE best café in Portlaoise for food quality, the coffee, the atmosphere and the best of all that this super spot has going for is it, the outstanding staff led by the gent of an ower Tom. Couldn't recommend this place more.

I went for Brew Cafe's breakfast, and it was delicious, freshly made poached egg with avocados and sour dough bread. It was really tasty, and I would recommend a visit when in Portlaoise.

This cafe is by far leagues above anything else in Portlaoise. The food is always spot on with amazing flavours and the staff always have a smile. Been several times now and can confidently say this is my go to for a nice treat for breakfast or lunch. You just HAVE to try the pancakes.

One of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. Their food was delicious, especially their breakfasts and scones. Their coffee was yummy. And their service was wonderful. When we come back to Ireland, I'll be sure to return here.

Visited here with my daughter before travelling on to Dublin. Had a great soup and sandwich with some water. Very good quality and sufficient for the journey. Prompt service and good choice available. Parking outside. Good value, tasty ingredients, well presented. They seem to have nice cakes too!

Bovine

06/02/2025: Bovine is an upstairs restaurant on the main street of Portloaise. The decor is a combination of stone and white washed walls. It has that rustic feel about it. The staff were busy they had a number of tables including a party of 8. We ordered the Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken Tenders as a starter and got Crispy Chilli Chicken Tenders. We ate them anyway, they were delicious, really good. Then we had the Black & Blue burger it had 2 smashed patties, Clonakilty black pudding, Cashel blue cheese, lettuce, pickles, Bovine sauce and Ballymaloe relish and I have to say it was the best burger I have ever eaten. Accompanied with Garlic Parmesan Fries and absolutely delicious, really tasty. We really enjoyed the food, the wait between courses was long though, we were hungry and from time of arrival it was 50 minutes before we got our main meal.
27/01/2025: best burger in Ireland now imo. Love our one in Kilkenny but this one was extra special. The staff were lovely, attentive and chatty! Room as a little cold on a horrible windy day is my only complaint! 10/10 will be there again ;)
