Simple, straight forward, comfortable hostel with a handy location and even handier bar on site, especially if you're done walking after all day of exploring but don't want to miss out a nice night out (yet in!). Live music was great.
I stayed in another popular hostel in Cork before and it is definitely Brú I will be coming back to.

It’s a hostel, so expect a hostel. Otherwise it was fantastic. Loved that they had a little full on pub downstairs. They didn’t offer luggage storage at the front but they did have lockers available to rent (if your stay was over but you wanted to explore more without your luggage.). This was my favorite hostels of all the places I stayed in Ireland.

My boyfriend and I stopped here to have a drink before getting the train home. Best decision ever! Our bartender was Sanna and she was fantastic; I had a great conversation with her and she was so lovely. Genuinely the best P🅾️rnstar Martini I’ve ever had, and as a bartender myself, that’s a very good recommendation. So if you happen upon the Brú Bar and Hostel, definitely pop in but be sure to ask for Sanna to make your cocktails as she is an A+ bartender and very friendly and lovely person all round. Also the cocktails are 2 for €15 from 5-8pm!! Thanks again folks!

I was on a trip with a friend in Cork for 4 days, so we slept 3 nights there.
At first when we saw the price we were like "well we only need a bed". But indeed we found something way better than that. The beds are very comfortable and clean, the sheets are cosy, the lockers are big, the bathrooms are wonderful, the water in the shower is at a good temperature, there is a very handy kitchen. In the morning the breakfast is grand enough, there are three different types of cereals, two types of bread on which you can put butter, jam, Nutella or honey, there is a toaster, you can have coffee, tea, orange juice or water which is very good.
the staff is lovely, we spoke to some other guests who were very nice. The bar attached to the hostel is lovely, the price of the cocktail during the happy hour is marvellous, you have to get one they are really good. On some evening there is an open scene where everybody is goodwill.
It is very well located: next to the train station, to some bus stop and close to the centre.
With my friend we are very happy about staying there. We talked with some Corkish person who told us that we have made the best choice.
So in a nutshell, it's cheap but it is incredible.
(Just a small thing to make it even better, it will be to add more hangers in the bedroom it would be handier, because when you need to dry your coat/clothes + towel you are running out of space very quickly )

Good location. Nice to have a bar downstairs where you can meet others and have a drink. Rooms are basic. A little bit cold, draft through the window and there were tissue in the holes! Ugh! Staff were friendly. We got towels, hairdryers for free. Access to a kitchen/ TV room. The TV room could be more comfortable. Breakfast basic but I was ok with that. The biggest issue I had that wasn’t solved was that all weekend I had no hot water for a shower!! Really not impressed with that!
