Great to see and hear "Dave" ( a slimmed down meatloaf now and looking about 10 yrs younger too ! ,) back spinning the discs on satrdy nte on the grnd floor of this rockin baπŸŽΆπŸŽΈπŸŽ™πŸŽ€...Dave plays an ecletic range of tunes and genres with sm truly gr8 sets from d 80's like the undertones ( teenage kicks ) human league, ,( dont u want me baby ) the waterboys, ( you saw the whole of the moon ) Madness , some Diaco, ska, reggae, plenty of 90s brit pop a la Oasis ( she is electric ) and a gr8 floor filler with d' killers to bring the roof down ....he will nearly always play a request ..unless its Abba !) ..Ive been goin 2 brxelles on and off since 1986 and for me Bruxelles is by a distance the best late bar for gr8 tunes and l8 pints and now with a gr8 bar service since ownership changed hands . . Bruxelles of Harry street , overlooked by Phil Lynott, an ex patron, is a true Dublin rock barπŸ‘ .

Bruxelles, a magnet for merrymakers nestled snugly in the bustling heart of Dublin, beckons with its promise of good times and great brews. Stepping through its doors feels akin to entering a whimsical wonderland where every pint tells a tale, and every patron is a protagonist in their own pub adventure. After a thrilling cinematic escapade, my buddy and I sought refuge within the comforting confines of Bruxelles, eager to quench our thirst and savour the delights of the legendary 'Hop House' pint. Picture this: as we settled into our seats, the heavens seemed to part, and a chorus of celestial angels heralded the arrival of our liquid ambrosia. Now, let's talk about this pint. It's not just any pint; it's the stuff of legends. With each sip, a cacophony of flavours dances a merry jig on the palate, like a whimsical parade through Flavour Town. The hops and malt perform a tango of taste that leaves you wondering if you've stumbled into a beer-fueled dream. It's a testament to the brewmaster's wizardry, transforming humble ingredients into liquid gold that even King Midas would envy. But wait, there's more! As we revelled in our hoppy delight, we couldn't help but soak in the atmosphere around us. Downstairs, a motley crew of revelers boogied like there was no tomorrow, their laughter and cheers adding to the carnival-esque vibe. Meanwhile, in the rocker bar, the music pounded like a heartbeat, drawing in patrons like moths to a flame. Yet, it was the upstairs sanctuary that truly stole the show. As we ascended the stairs, we entered a realm where time seemed to slow to a crawl, like a sloth in a hammock. It was a haven for the more refined palate, where conversations flowed smoother than a pint of Guinness, and laughter rang out like bells on Christmas morning. And so, my amigo and I found ourselves outside, pondering life's mysteries over a pint and a packet of crisps. In the end, Bruxelles isn't just a pub; it's a portal to a world where the absurd meets the sublime and where every sip is a toast to the absurdity of it all. Cheers to that!

Went here solely because of the Lynott connection. Saw the statue (shame on you, Ms. Lynott, for how you treated Paul . . . I bought a miniature from him!) and took the requisite picture. Wasn't expecting much when I wandered inside, as this is part of the Louis Fitzgerald Group of places and spaces that are kitted out to be 'traditional' for tourists by and large. Not that that is a bad thing, mind you. But they have an eye on things. And I will extend them the best of compliments: this place was great the two times I visited. Traditional in the best of senses and not garish or slap-dash. Attentive bartenders. Festive crowd on one visit when the ruby game was on; talkative group the other time when there were no games playing. I really enjoyed the place and would come back. So color me surprised! The LFG knows what they are doing and I should apologize to them for being so skeptical (see also my review of The Gin Palace). If you are in the area, give it a try. I like to think I had a drink in a place where Phil used to play (or at least held band meetings). I think I did. And I will do it again if the chance presents itself.

Food was okay. Not too bad considering the area. We had tomato soup and a sandwich (lunch menu) and they adapted mine (vegetarian). The waitress was super nice and we had a good time all in all.

Quiet, good music (canned), charming waitresses. A limited choice of draft drinks, however. A good experience

The Brass Monkey

02/04/2024: Good food but extremely disappointed when receiving the bill: 10% service (not specified on the menu - I checked) is displayed in addition, which spoiled our experience. This seems like a lot to me for the little service received
01/04/2024: Best fish I have had since I left Northern Norway. Absolutely fresh, beautiful!

Two Sisters

27/03/2024: I am mortified that I haven't reviewed this most excellent of local pubs....my parents come here at least once a week and I go with them when I am home. I didn't eat here this time but have in the past and the food is great and very reasonable, the Sunday roast dinner is also to die for..... I went a few times on this last visit home and really enjoyed it as per usual.... great drinks selection and friendly atmosphere... Birgitta from Hungary (sorry if I have spelled name wrong) is phenomenal and when you go during her shift you are guaranteed amazingly efficient and friendly service. What a lovely human and a total credit to the bar. I will be back when next I am home!
