Cafe Mexicana in Cork

The food was exceptional!!! The service was good too. We got chimichanga and pollo with mushrooms and sauce

There were four of us French people looking for a good value restaurant in Cork at 8:30 pm... After being turned away from pubs and other restaurants, we stumbled upon Café Mexicana. What a pleasant surprise! Everything was perfect: the welcome, the service, the warm atmosphere, and the excellent food! Homemade dishes, and what can I say about the homemade desserts? We didn't know what to choose... A special mention goes to the Banana Bailey's with its warm homemade chocolate sauce and three scoops of vanilla ice cream. A dessert like that in France would cost over 10 euros! Thank you, we'll definitely be back!

The only thing is that customers leave the door open at the table by the door, and it gets cold, but the waiters try to close it. The food is excellent.

A cozy café serving excellent Mexican food. We shared the Quesadilla and Bean and Corn Chips appetizers then split the Pork and Chicken Tamales. Everything was very tasty loved the Salsa Verde and the pitcher of Sangria (good value that gave us four glasses). It would have been five stars if some of the food was served hot and extra salsa brought to table. However, the cafe was very busy with every table taken and people standing in queue on Valentine's Day. So I'm giving them leeway. The seating area is a little tight but had the best spot with our table next to the windows. I felt the place could have been a little more kitschy feeling like you're dining in an authentic cafe in Mexico.

We went for a family lunch and the food was fantastic, beautifully presented and everything was delicious. We were very well served by an Italian waitress who made an effort to speak to us in Spanish and understand us. The atmosphere was lovely, the decor was beautiful, and the dishes were incredible. We loved it!

Originally from California, I've lived in Ireland the past eight years. Café Mexicana is by far the best and most authentic Mexican food I've had in Ireland. I have never seen tamales anywhere else in Ireland, so I was very excited to try them. They exceeded expectations. I will make Café Mexicana a frequent destination going forward.

Really nice. I was there with 3 others on Saturday. Food excellent and service were excellent. They need a toilet downstairs though. We’ll be back

European Mexican food has improved since the early aughts. My chicken chimichanga was good, the rice was tasty although nothing like Mexican rice -was more chili flavored. Portions are a little small for the price but not outrageous. Staff was nice... service was quick, and margarita was good.
