04/08/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five Stars – A Hidden Gem on the Cooley Peninsula!
Ferguson’s Bar & Bistro in Gyles Quay is an absolute must-visit. Whether you’re calling in for a meal, drinks, or an evening of entertainment, it never disappoints.
The food is consistently outstanding—beautifully presented, full of flavour, and made with quality ingredients. Every meal we’ve had has been exceptional.
A special mention has to go to Edelle, who is simply the best waitress. She is always so warm, friendly, attentive, and nothing is ever too much trouble. She goes above and beyond to make every visit enjoyable and is a real credit to the team.
If you’re a cocktail lover, you have to try the frozen coconut martinis. Ruari makes the best we’ve ever tasted—perfectly balanced, refreshing, and dangerously moreish!
The atmosphere is fantastic too. Friday night bingo is great fun with plenty of laughs, and the live music creates such a brilliant buzz, making it the perfect place to spend an evening with family or friends.
Ferguson’s has it all: fantastic food, amazing cocktails, first-class service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We always leave looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended! 🍸🍽️🎶
02/08/2026: I cannot say enough good things about Ferguson's. We were staying in the area, got pizzas to take away the first night. We liked it so much we returned the following night to sit in and eat. When we arrived they were very, very busy as they were hosting a bingo night and it was also a bank holiday weekend. They informed us before we sat down that it would be a 40 minute wait to get food - that was perfect for us (and also an accurate estimation). Staff were very pleasant and attentive, despite the fact that they were clearly under pressure with the volume of people that were arriving. And even though we were seated outside, we were still checked on regularly to see if there was anything we needed.
While we waited for our food we watched an interaction unfold involving 2 ladies and the staff. The two women were very clearly intoxicated and were being quite rude. Several members of staff came out to their table to try to passify them, but they were being very difficult. Despite the two ladies giving smart and disrespectful remarks to the relatively young members of staff, the staff were still were very, very polite and respectful in dealing with them. I was genuinely impressed with their ability to deal with such difficult patrons.
A female supervisor came out (lovely lady, I didn't get her name but she had long dark hair in a ponytail). The patience she displayed was incredible. From watching, I really got the impression that the 2 intoxicated female customers were attempting to avoid having to pay for the meal and drinks that they had. They were pretending that they didn't know how to use their phones or bank cards, and were still being quite rude, sarcastic and disrespectful. The supervisor was polite, she showed them repeatedly how to use their phones, and never at any point showed even the slightest bit of annoyance or irritation with them (this supervisor had the patience of a saint!!). It was fascinating to witness, because I was only watching it, and I was so appalled at the behaviour of these 2 ladies that I think I would have told them to cop on, or feck off, after about 30 seconds of having to listen to them.
The food was amazing, but the staff makes the place even better. Someone please give these staff a night out or something, they are so good at what they do. And other restaurants should take their staff here, to train them as to what good waiting and hospitality staff should aspire to be like.
Will 100% be back.
