Carton House in

So underwhelming. 3 stars at best. Room smells musty. When I mentioned it to the front desk, the only thing they could offer was to spray some stuff which obviously doesn’t take the smell away. The breakfast was underwhelming as was the service. When I called and asked for 2 more pillows, I was asked why do I need more when there are already 4 in the room 😅 so I had to explain how I would like some extra so my child doesn’t fall off the bed. The spa facilities are run down and dirty. The girl at the front of the spa is less than friendly. The fact that they have to sell spa packages to anyone around town says a lot about any sort of exclusivity. The heated pool is cold. The jacuzzi is barely warm. The keys to the room never worked so we walked back forth a million times to get new keys. The only exceptional service member was Teresa upon check in - kind and lovely.

Excellent experience. The hotel has been transformed since the renovations. Staff were fantastic. Will definitely be back.

An absolute highlight of my previous accommodations. A bit remote from public transport, but absolutely amazing. Super friendly staff, great atmosphere, great breakfast and a huge outdoor area. There are plenty of leisure options. Absolute recommendation from us.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!! Our experience at The Carton House was fantastic! The room was clean, the service was amazing and the location is glorious! We had a little bit of a hiccup with the lady tending the spa where she did not want to inform us of what services they offered and simply told us that everything was booked out ( we didn’t specify a day so that was odd). We did not use the spa services after this encounter but can say that it is a beautiful space, maybe we will try it out next time. The service from everyone else was so great that this hiccup did not bother us. From the concierge to housekeeping , every one was so gracious! We will definitely be coming back to The Carton House with our families next time! PS. Don’t miss the tour!! 10am everyday, you get to see the entire castle and learn the fantastic history of the castle’s ownership and it’s impact on Irish history. Try out one of their restaurants at Kathleen’s kitchen.

Love this place so much. Quiet and beautiful. Perfect place if you need to get away and rest.

Excellent destination. Beautifully appointed and professional staff. Stayed two nights. The room was a fair walk away from the reception but it gave one an appetite. The showers were small and the water had no power, just gravity! Breakfast and dinner in the Kathleen room was very tasty and satisfying. The Carton Carriage for dinner had fantastic starters like the chowder. But the Sirloin steak was too fatty and chips were so salty. My feedback to the waitress in the carriage house-received only an apology and it ended there. 5* starter, 1* main course and service was hit and miss due to lack of observation. I’d come back again but I’d be more aware of what I’m ordering.

Anna in the restaurant and the concierge Brian were very courteous and efficient. The reservations team was also very helpful at check in. Pool and spa facilities were wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed the walks around this beautiful property. Casual dinner at Carriag House was delicious and set in an elegant, hunt club type atmosphere. All around wonderful place to stay - will be back.
