Carton House in

I really expected better of a five star, expensive hotel. We were greeted warmly, but they asked us about preferences and choices with food and activities but booked us in the opposite of what we had chosen. The spa was like going to a community pool, stepping over kids and their detritus to get to a locker room shared by the pool area, no robes or slippers, no pleasant waiting area or relaxing music. Just the noise of families splashing about. I was hoping for elegant and elevated but got what I would expect from a 3 star hotel. Furthermore, the more recent wing of the hotel was falling apart with leaks in the ceilings, mismatched bulbs with different color temperatures, a tempting bathtub that did not work, and dingy dark hallways. It really needs a good designer to come in and gut the place. As a Fairmont managed property, I thought we would be getting better.

Course and Hotel Superb. Will definitely return

Went for lunch yesterday, it was slightly disappointing. It tasted fine but they didn’t have oysters which are normally on the seafood platter, the salmon was dumped on the plate and we had to ask for lemon. Who serves a sea food platter without lemons? Anyways, it left a lot to be desired. We have stayed here before and loved it. This will not detour us from coming back.

Very nice hotel. Porridge was amazing. Great walks around the land. Very helpful staff and managers. A little bit away from central Dublin. But the nature is spellbinding

There's nothing to complain about in terms of service, but the infrastructure is unnecessarily "grayed" in many places: There are dents and scratches on the doors and walls in the hallways, a few loose and rattling tiles in the central corridor from reception to the rooms, a single, heavily creaking board under the room carpet, wobbly toilet paper holders, and half-broken bathroom doorstops in both rooms I had access to, all of which mar the perfection. The women's restroom in the breakfast restaurant was subparly clean. This added up quite a bit, hence one star less.

Amazing experience, a magical blend of nature’s beauty, modern amenities, some world class cuisine and the ever so famous Irish whiskey!

Absolutely gorgeous place to visit. You book a lunch or dinner here and have a little self tour around. Expensive but luxury experience.

I recently stayed at Carton House for two nights and while the property is absolutely stunning with beautiful decor and amazing views, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful, there were several aspects that did not meet the standards I would expect from a five star hotel. The bathroom had very poor water pressure and the pillows and blankets were made of synthetic materials rather than feather which made the pillows particularly uncomfortable. We loved the restaurant where breakfast was served and the a la carte menu was delicious (although the portions were small), but the buffet was a major disappointment because we usually had breakfast around 10am and since it ends at 10.30am the buffet was not replenished, leaving very little food available and on our second day almost nothing at all, which meant leaving breakfast still hungry.
