Lovely food. Great atmosphere. Lovely setting. Service ok. Efficient pleasant but not overly friendly. One Negative. We were given the bill but hadn’t asked for it. Felt being rushed out. Lots people still there and no one wait for our table.

The restaurant was recommended from a friend in the states. It lived up to expectations. The food and service were excellent. The staff was also knowledgeable about gluten restrictions (celiac disease). We would highly recommend Chandpur when in the area.

We were quite pleasantly surprised to find first rate Indian food at Chandpur in Donegal village. I had Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi which was tender, full flavored and perfectly spiced. My wife had Saag Paneer which she has ordered in dozens of restaurants, and proclaimed this was the second best she has ever had.

Hemos tenido un montón de comidas indias en muchos lugares, pero este fue uno de los mejores. Nos quedamos intrigados cuando vimos las críticas, no esperando algo tan bueno en Donegal. Pero los críticos antes que nosotros tienen razón. Las mejores pakoras que hemos probado y la mezcla correcta de sabores en los currys. El servicio era sólido y los precios eran razonables.

13/10/2025: Whilst on a driving holiday around the whole of Ireland we stopped off in Donegal & what a fabulous night we had! First we ate at the Olde Castle then we crossed the road and had a great night full of Irish Craic - it was simply the best night we had!!!
21/09/2025: A very decent & by Irish standards reasonably priced place to stay. Spotless, spacious bedroom + superb modern shower room. Couldn’t be more central in Donegal Town. Large car park a short walk away costing (if memory serves) a little over €1 for 24 hours with no restrictions on length of stay. I’m knocking off a star because there’s no breakfast option & the experience overall was rather impersonal. The steep, narrow stairs up to rooms might be challenging to the aged or infirm, as might the uphill walk from Car Park #4 with suitcases.

Central Bar

23/10/2025: Overall the hotel and staff was magnificent but I had to deduct points due to a manager on this morning in the buffet breakfast, there was a young lad, clearly new to work and, he was scolded and talked to by the manager loudly, and in a berating way, in front of the guests, then proceeded to wave his hands over his head and click and point! I dunno how the lad works overall but you can see he his polite and trying his best and being led by inept management who is in no position to lead! Honestly the manager was the person who ruined our breakfast experience. In light of that the staff all round were lovely, the girls at reception, the staff at the bar and the general buffet breakfast staff were all lovely but that manager needs reprimanding and to be replaced as he's not a leader!
