The best mussels eaten, even surpassing those eaten in France!!! We loved it, the snails were very good, refined cuisine! Special mention for Grégoire who was super nice ;) for a last restaurant in Dublin, we finished well!!! Hello from the North 😁

We came for an evening meal and were delighted by the food and less delighted by the atmosphere and service. The restaurant had a few free tables inside but the frenetic pace of service and pushy waiter didn’t help our experience. I think he promoted the tart tartin 3 times and were unimpressed by our wish to slow down the service to a reasonable rate. The food tasted authentic and although my duck confit and other dishes would have been improved with more sauce, they tasted great. Good quality ingredients and deft cooking greatly impressed. I would return for lunch but not at night if I wanted a relaxing or romantic dinner

A wonderful experience in this excellent French restaurant in the heart of Dublin. We go here for Christmas and birthday celebrations and are never disappointed. From the food and drinks and service from the wonderful staff I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Well done 👍

I ordered the mussels and the crème brulé for the early bird dinner meal deal and it was very worth the money and delicious. The service is fantastic and the waitress's were very considerate and professional. Will come here again.

What a quaint, neat, little place to stop. We were near this wonderful little place to meet our tour guide but had come about an hour early so we wanted to go and enjoy a nice coffee while we waited. The ambiance in this little place is absolutely wonderful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a small place, so keep that in mind, but they also have a very nice outdoor area to sit and enjoy a meal, a cup of coffee or a great glass of wine.

Fantastic. Great food, very reasonably priced and very friendly staff. This is exactly what you want from a restaurant. This was my first time here. Some friends had been here years ago and recommended it. I wished I’d listened. Silly me. The French onion soup is the best I’ve tasted since I was in Aix en Provence. The best in Dublin!! I also had the boeuf bourguignon which was lovely comfort food :-) The meal was bookended with Kir Royale (multiple!) and Irish coffees. In Dublin, my go-to French restaurant was always La Maison. But I’ve found a new “go-to”. I’ll still try La Maison, but my preferred is Chez Max. Lovely staff, lovely ambience, lovely food. Well worth a try.

06/07/2025: Wonderful experience in every way
06/07/2025: I had no idea when I was planning our visit that we'd have *two* fantastic meals I felt worthy of at least one Michelin star! Serendipitous to say the least. Again, our meals were like eating fine art - every plate was gorgeous and it took everything we had not to inhale but slow down and savor the incredible flavors. The meal started with an amuse-bouche consisting of a sushi bite, one I can't remember, and a delicious gougère. For starters, my husband had the stuffed courgette flower surrounded by an unctuous seafood bisque - the bisque was utterly amazing. I had the goat cheese salad, a riot of color and taste. My husband had the John Dory nightly special for his main, while I had the most perfectly cooked lamb with an apricot compote. Desserts were a trio of chocolate confections (husband) and a scrumptious pavlova (me). And as a special surprise, they brought out a plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate, with a chocolate raspberry truffle and a mini lemon tart. The lemon flavor was to die for! Our server was very correct and knowledgeable, but the real delight was the assistant server - I wish I'd asked her name. She graciously allowed me to speak French with her (she's from Montpellier) and we had such a great time chatting I was afraid I'd get her in trouble for neglecting her other duties. She was the true gem of the place. The restaurant is cozy and intimate, and it was completely packed. I wholeheartedly recommend booking a table!
