We loved our evening at Dax. The food was amazing. Even though its expensive, we felt it was worth it for a special occasion. Service was excellent. At the end, the chef came to our table to ask how the meal was. We hope to return

Best meal ive had in a long time and potentially ever, the attention to detail, the cooking, the service; everything absolutely amazing. Some of the nicest dishes ive had in a long long time. The chef came out at the end to ask us how we liked it also which I thought was a lovely touch. Will be back 100%. Couldn't reccomend it enough. Phenomenal meal, Phenomenal service, 10 out of 10.

Fantastic evening spent here with my son Lee. The food was amazing, different but superb. The staff, especially our waiter who was French was so lovely. The chef spoke with the diners which is so rare but lovely. A really enjoyable time and we will be back

Elevated, yet charming at the same time. For food, wine, and service this restaurant punches above its weight. I can compliment several things about this restaurant. Service is friendly and warm as others mentioned. The gastronomy is solid and enjoyable. They did a great job of accommodating our lactose allergy by offering tasty solutions instead of just omissions. The prix fixe menu offers three courses (starter, principal plate, and dessert) with solid choices for each course. The foie gras was well sourced, decadent and beautifully complemented with a cerise sauce to counter the fat. Also, we had the duck and the lamb for our main courses. You can't go wrong with either. Portions were filling and proportionately larger since there were only three courses. Also, wine was reasonably priced (at least by American standards). After consultation, we had a jammy syrah blend (Château Milhau Lacugue Les Truffières) that held up well to the foie gras and both the lamb and duck. Total price for dinner, bottle of wine, and 12.5% was 276.64 Euros. If we return to Dublin, this is worth another visit.

One of the best restaurants in Dublin, with ease. Try to come here once every month or two. Never miss a beat and cracking value at lunch. Great wine list and much better valuable than many nearby restaurants. Courgette flower whenever it’s on is a must.

We had lunch at Dax and truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtful, polished, and genuinely welcoming. The wine was a standout—an exquisite Riesling from Alsace that completely won me over. It was beautifully balanced, not overly acidic, and incredibly smooth. It’s safe to say I’m now a convert. What impressed us most, though, was how attentive and accommodating the team was with our dietary needs. My husband avoids flour and sugar, and I’m lactose intolerant, gluten- and wheat-free, and don’t eat meat. The staff handled this with such care and professionalism, always making sure I knew exactly what I could eat and how each dish would be adapted. It never felt like an inconvenience to them—quite the opposite. The food itself was exceptional. The roasted potatoes were absolutely unforgettable, and the halibut was so light and fluffy we initially thought it had been steamed—it was that delicate and perfectly prepared. Service was impeccable throughout. The chef even came out to greet guests, which added a personal touch that made the experience feel even more special. We noticed every table receiving the same level of attention, with guests being warmly guided out and engaged in friendly conversation as they left. Dax delivers not just excellent food and wine, but a truly memorable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back.

Chez Max

20/07/2026: Chez Max is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a relaxed lunch in the heart of Dublin. We stopped in for lunch and came away impressed by both the quality of the food and the value, especially considering its central location. The sandwich special was outstanding. It was made with fresh, quality ingredients, generously filled and packed with flavour. It was the sort of simple dish that is elevated by good produce and careful preparation rather than unnecessary complexity. The portion size was generous and made for a thoroughly satisfying lunch. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere with the feel of a traditional French bistro. It’s comfortable and unpretentious, making it an easy place to settle in for a leisurely meal while taking a break from sightseeing around the city. Service was friendly, efficient and attentive throughout our visit. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and ensured everything was delivered promptly without making us feel rushed. For anyone exploring central Dublin, Chez Max is well worth considering for lunch. Between the excellent sandwich special, quality ingredients, welcoming atmosphere and good value, it offers an enjoyable dining experience that exceeded our expectations. We’d happily return on a future visit and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others looking for a reliable, relaxed lunch in the city centre
19/07/2026: This is my favourite lunch spot on a warm sunny day. The lunch special plat du jour is great and it's located far enough back from the street that it seems quiet and calm and for a brief moment you can even imagine that you are in Paris as you people-watch. Oooh la la.
