We stayed at the Hotel and dined at this restaurant on our last night there. It is only open on Fridays and Saturdays, but is well worth the experience if you can manage to be there. The restaurant is very comfortable and well-appointed and enjoys picturesque views over the Malahide estuary. The staff are very presentable, efficient and exude typical Irish charm; they are ably led by Restaurant Manager Tony and his staff.
We chose not to opt for a starter, instead going straight for the main course. My wife chose the “Catch of the Day”, which was a whole Black Sole. It was cooked to perfection; the flesh just flaked easily off the bone. The accompanying vegetables were well cooked with just the right amount of firmness. I chose an Irish beef Fillet Steak which was again cooked exactly to perfection and therefore my liking. This was complemented with some nice wine. For a dessert course, we chose the Baked Cherry Alaska with cherry gel and roast hazelnuts. It was quite one of the most delicious desserts we have enjoyed on our travels.
The atmosphere was extremely relaxing – there was no pressure between courses. We were able to relax, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the views.
