A genuine review from a long-time customer, before and after. This is a difficult review for me to write because my husband and I have been coming here for many years. Over the last four years especially, we have been regular customers, coming around 40 times a year, sometimes almost every week. A few years ago, I left a five-star review for this restaurant, and I’m including a screenshot of that review because I think it’s important to show that this opinion comes from someone who has genuinely experienced the restaurant over a long period of time. This is not a review from someone who came once, had a bad experience and decided to complain. It’s coming from someone who genuinely loved this restaurant, the food and the service for many years, and who has experienced it both before and after the recent changes. I also want to give special recognition to Michael. His service has been one of the reasons we kept coming back so regularly. He is always friendly, attentive and welcoming, and his service was certainly one of the reasons we were happy to give this restaurant five stars in the past. Even today, Michael is a big part of why we are still giving three stars rather than fewer. The main disappointment for us has been the recent changes, particularly to the menu. I actually really like the changes to the décor and the overall look of the restaurant. I think that side of the transformation was very welcome. The problem, in my opinion, is that too many changes were made to the menu when some of the things that were already working didn’t need to be changed. There were dishes and choices that regular customers knew, enjoyed and came back for. Some of those have now disappeared or changed, and I feel that the restaurant has lost some of what made it special. Perhaps this is simply the direction the management wants to take the restaurant, especially given its very tourist-oriented location. But as a long-standing regular, I sometimes feel that the restaurant is becoming more geared towards visitors and new customers, rather than the people who have supported it consistently over the years. And that is the part I find most disappointing. We understand that restaurants need to evolve and that management has to make decisions about the future. But not every change necessarily makes the experience better. Sometimes, in trying to improve or modernise something, you can unintentionally move away from the things that made loyal customers fall in love with it in the first place. That’s why this review is particularly difficult to write. We are not leaving this review because we suddenly had one bad experience. We are leaving it because we have been coming here for years, we have seen the changes firsthand, and we genuinely remember how much we used to love coming here. I sincerely hope management takes feedback from long-standing regular customers into consideration. Sometimes the best way forward is not to change everything, but to recognise what was already working and preserve the reasons people kept coming back.

The sauce on my cutlet was absolutely amazing. Umami 😋 The waiters were incredibly attentive. Highly recommended. ♥️

We visited Darwin’s on Tuesday and had a fantastic experience. The food was excellent, and the steak was especially outstanding, cooked perfectly and full of flavour. The service was just as impressive. Our French waiter, Mikael, was professional, friendly, and attentive throughout the entire meal. He made sure we had everything we needed and really helped make the experience enjoyable. Overall, we felt very well looked after and had a wonderful evening. We would definitely recommend Darwin’s and look forward to coming back!

I own a gastro pub, and i know how things are meant to. I’ll say this, and I don’t mean to embarrass anyone, but Mikael is a straight 10/10. Attention to detail. Service from start to finish. We recommend people because of the location yes, but mostly because of Mikael. He’s outstanding. See you soon, and we willl keep referring Mikael. You are a superstar!!! 🍻🍻🍻
