As a regular client of the restaurant at Fallons, I was left very disappointed this evening while attending a birthday dinner for my wife. We were a party of 6 adults and 2 children with a booking. From the moment we stepped into Fallons, we were ignored by 3 members of staff until one waiter came to help us. We were seated and a drinks order was taken, we had to enquire about the drinks order twice, eventually arriving after the starters, waitress said the drinks order did not go through, yet we could see it sitting on the bar for at least 5 minutes.
We felt we were an inconvenience to the wait staff when we asked for extra brown bread to be served with our starters (we didnt ask for it for free) and then we had to ask for butter also, which when arrived, couldn't be spread as it was rock hard. The two children's meals were supposed to come with the adults starters but didnt come until after we finished. When the main courses arrived, one of of the meals took a further 6 minutes to be brought to the table, we asked for more veg which we didnt get when the waitress made excuses that teo of the meals didnt come with extra veg, then she walked away. Desserts were ordered, waitress came with soup spoons for apple crumble, brownies and ice cream, and one of the children's ice cream didnt come until after the rest of us had finished, and when it did arrive, there was no spoon with it. Very very poor service from a restaurant that we frequent regularly. The manager on duty spent more time sitting at the bar chatting with customers than leading his staff. The restaurant was not exactly full, there was a lot of tables empty which I found surprising as it was always busy, and another party behind us commented on the atrocious service too. The new management really needs to assess the situation and train staff to a standard fitting the establishment including a course. Staff were pleasant but it felt like it was the whole teams first day. I doubt we will be returning, pity as the food was excellent.

Food was okay but that was about it. Burger bun was dry and tasteless. Side salad was a leaf of iceberg with a scoop of coleslaw on it. Chips were lovely.
We had our daughter’s Christening in the Snug in Fallons. It was the perfect setting for a small group event, it was brilliant to have our own space, toilet and bar. The service was brilliant and the food was very tasty. Sean was great to deal with in the lead up and on the day.

3* Review due to the small portion size. A tiny fillet of sole and a quenelle of mashed potato is not good enough for the prices being charged. Overall the food was tasty, but would it of bankrupted them to put another few scoops of mash on the plate?

It was my Mum's 80th birthday and we had all our family from 91 to 8 years old in the restaurant, the service and food was amazing, very friendly staff and at a reasonable price considering the quality of food served . Thank you to all of the fallons staff
