Fish Kitchen in Bantry legal town

Phenomenal seafood. The best I’ve had in Ireland. The mussels and chowder were especially divine.

Ok food. Thought battered haddock was too greasy and chips portion small.

The food at the Fish Kitchen was nothing short of exceptional. I don’t often seek out fish restaurants, but when this restaurant was recommended to me, I decided to take the plunge—and I am so glad that I did. The setting strikes a perfect balance between relaxed and inviting, and we were warmly welcomed by staff who clearly love what they do. Once seated, we discovered the restaurant’s clever approach to sustainability: instead of traditional menus, the day’s offerings are presented on a wall-mounted board, adding a touch of charm and originality to the experience. The food itself was remarkable. The fish cakes, brimming with fresh hake, cheddar, and capers, were rich in flavour, each bite offering a delightful burst of freshness. My partner’s scampi was equally impressive! So good, in her words, that she “wanted more,” though the generous portion left little to be desired. After our meal, we enjoyed an engaging chat with the staff about local produce and attractions, which made the experience feel all the more personal. It’s clear that the owners have poured both passion and care into the Fish Kitchen, and it shines through in every detail. Part of me would rather keep this gem a secret, just to ensure we can always find a seat when we return!

The chowder was very good, as were the salmon and crab sandwiches. The Cronins cider was good.

The atmosphere was cozy, and the food was delicious.

We shared an open prawn sandwich which was lovely, the sour dough bread was do light. The service was good too.

Food was super fresh, we ordered calamari, mussels, chowder and fish&chips. The best were calamari and mussels. I was a bit of disappointing with chowder as it didn't have fishy taste it was more like delicate broth. Crab sandwich need bit of more salt. Overall we were really happy with visit!
