I have never had the food therefore cannot say much about it. But this is another one of my favorite rock bars in Dublin. You can’t beat the foggy dew. So easy to get to in the heart of temple bar and on the main bus routes. The foggy dew is such an exciting bar, with all walks of life in it. You can meet anyone here and see so much cool styles. On Sundays they have a Ska night which is usually good craic. The points are good and the craic is mighty. Lovely people lovely pub

I prefer this pub during the day. Nice place to sit and relax. If you like a more lively setting, it transforms in the evening. We were there on a night that bangers and cash were playing so the place was jammed. Service is good and even in a busy bar you're not left waiting for long.

It is a beautiful place, traditional but with alternative decoration. The staff is very friendly and the beer delicious. 100% recommended.

We had a good seat at the bar for the live music. We thoroughly enjoyed the live music and the buzz but the bar man affected our experience. He was a long haired like a pound shop version of John snow. He repeatedly complained about customers, rolled his eyes when I asked for a glass of ice and cursed about other staff members. We were afraid to ask him for a drink.

The Winding Stair

01/11/2024: Staff are lovely. Food was overpriced and limited choice. I left hungry.
29/10/2024: My wife and I had the pleasure of dining here in September, on the recommendation of a friend. It was truly one of the best meals we've ever had.

The Winding Stair was originally an independent bookshop and cafe in the 1970s and 1980s. Named after the Yeats poem, and in honour of its winding staircase, it is perfectly located, overlooking the river Liffey, with an iconic view of the Ha'penny bridge ( but you really need a window seat to enjoy it). It was later converted to a restaurant, but retains the feel of a literary setting. The bookshop is retained on the ground floor.
It's not fancy, but elegant casual dress is most appropriate. The menu has traditional offerings of good Irish food and seasonal, Irish produce; this is not a pub. For a starter, we shared the Potted Dingle Bay crab with pickled cucumber, toasted soda bread and organic leaves. We both ordered the traditional Doyle's hand-smoked haddock, poached in milk with onions and white cheddar mash — truly one of the best meals we've had. Their soda bread was the best we had in Dublin. It reminded us of the black canned bread we had as kids, but a whole lot better.

The staff was attentive and friendly, making us feel welcome and appreciated. They have a fully stocked bar and very good wines.

If you're looking for a memorable dining experience in Dublin, The Winding Stair is the place to go. Note: Get a reservation. We were a walk-in, the last ones, and had to promise to finish within 90 minutes. We saw many people turned away.

The Brazen Head

02/10/2024: We visited this pub because it’s the oldest pub in Ireland and we were curious to see such a historic place. We went for lunch and we didn’t have reservations. The pub was very busy but it didn’t take us long to get a table. The food was good and the service was very Ok. It’s cool to see how old the building is, but the decoration is very overpowering, looks too busy and it feels claustrophobic. Nice to visit, but I wouldn’t go back.
