I’ve eaten here many times over the period of the past 2 years. I have never been here and had an experience where I would give any less than 11/10. The food is top notch, really fresh, consistent and big servings for what you pay. The service is A1, all of the staff are so lovely, friendly and attentive no matter how busy they are. We have 2 kids and they’re always so nice to them and treat them with so much love and attention. The restaurants and toilets have been spotless each time we’ve been here. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I spent the evening with my Finnish family, and the restaurant, food and staff were the most loveliest. They had all sorts of dishes and they were able to even cater to my vegan desires, even though the standard menu they gave us didn't have any vegan options. I can highly recommend the restaurant/pub to anyone visiting the region, be they vegan or not. The vegan dish I had was tomato pasta with veggies and it was amazingly delicious, definitely worth the five stars, and the other dishes my family ordered (steak and fish and chips) were absolutely fabulous as well. The staff was lovely as well and I felt like we were being taken care of by mother figures, very lovely and warming experience. If you're in the region, the place is a must see and experience. Well worth the visit, and on top of that, very low prices!

January blues are often associated with this time of year I certainly had the opposite when I pulled up in my Renault to friels restaurant on the outskirts of the idyllic Kildare village of straffan Starters - wings - tender bone , little bits of chicken (corn fed ) and sauce to melt an iceberg - cool , refreshing but with a little kick like a bite of a mosquito main - cottage pie - this place is like a cottage and you are what you eat - crispy , Irish beef , pepper , salt , dollop of mustard , glass of guinesss and four side mash portions had me FED Desert - was good

Kylemore Pass Hotel

06/10/2024: We stayed at Kylemore Pass Hotel for two nights in September, and it was among our favorite accommodations of our entire 3-week visit to Ireland. We arrived on a VERY rainy afternoon, but Stuart quickly checked us in, took our bags to our room, and then had us sit in front of the fire while he made us coffee and tea. It was such a cozy welcome! Our room faced the front of the hotel and had the most wonderful view of the spectacular Connemara scenery. We had a small balcony which was perfect for star-gazing once the rain moved out and the skies cleared. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel's restaurant both days and were very pleased. It's a small establishment, but the menu offered great variety and our meals were really delicious. Stuart is a wonderful host. He's warm and funny, and available for whatever you might need. We look forward to our next trip to Ireland and will plan a longer stay at Kylemore Pass. Highly recommend!
28/05/2024: Was taking part in the Tour de Conamara and this was a great base, about 20 mins drive from Clifden where the event starts & finishes. Comfortable hotel, breakfasts and evening menu hit the spot 👍

Paddy's Bar and Restaurant

27/12/2024: I've been putting off writing this review because the prospect of saying everything that needs to be said is daunting. Maybe impossible. And also because I nominated them for a wedding venue award, which took awhile. My wife and I had our wedding and reception here in October for about 30 people. The atmosphere was perfect - cozy and intimate but not overcrowded or stuffy. It felt comfortable and homey but not cheap. A quintessential country pub, with all the tradition that carries. The food was incredible (spit-roasted local lamb over an open hearth turf fire, anyone?), the photographer was great, and the music (both live and DJ) was sincerely amazing. Everything was included in the wedding package, even two nights at a stunning cottage overlooking the lough. But Naoise, the coordinator, truly sent it over the top. She was constantly available, proactively engaged, and just went miles above and beyond to remove the stress of planning a wedding from overseas. I cannot speak highly enough of this place. They made us feel somehow simultaneously celebrated and part of the community. It was a perfect wedding. Absolutely perfect. If you're looking for a genuine human experience from an alternative microwedding venue that boasts waterfront dining in a rural Gaeltacht community, this is your spot. We laughed, we cried, we danced, and we cannot stop talking about it. It might not be my home, but it now occupies a suspiciously home-shaped place in my heart. Naoise, we'll be back!
