Garavan's in Galway

Award wining Irish coffee, they said, and that's what pulled us in. It was good, we enjoyed it.

A typical Irish bar, you'll find nothing more. Irish beers, including local ones, and a large selection of whiskeys.

Garavan's Bar is one of Galway's most famous and historic traditional pubs, located in the heart of the city center. Officially founded in 1937 by the Garavan family as the "Spirit Grocery" (a combination of a grocery store and a pub), the historic building originally dates back to 1650, retaining its medieval walls and period fireplaces. Today, it is a landmark on the Galway Whiskey Trail and has garnered prestigious awards, including the title of City Bar of the Year 2025.

Great place for pints and the craic. Make sure to visit on your next trip to Galway. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
