31/12/2023: Came home to Dublin for Christmas and was excited to visit the Avoca cafe again for a taste of home, with a friend from abroad. However, much to our disappointment, the service was subpar and the food was rather average. After waiting ages to be seated and then having things missing from our meal, we decided to order a scone and brownie bite for dessert. After a 15 min wait, we were informed that both were unavailable, only to find them on our bill when they tried to charge us. The waitress seemed hesitant and confused about what we had ordered and received. The rather unprofessional crossed out receipt we were given after paying - with an incorrect total amount - sums up the service perfectly. I always advertise Avoca as the best place in Dublin for Irish food and goods, so I’m very disappointed to see how much the overall experience has deteriorated.
