Gleesons in Roscommon

Popped in for a meal, did not stay at hotel. Had lasagne but it was weird - no bechamel sauce and only layer of pasta, just tasted of tomato. Was edible but only just. Had sticky toffee pudding for dessert, which came with toffee sauce - asked for custard and waitress looked at me like I had 2 heads, was not happy I asked for custard. When it arrived I wish I hadn't, was really watery. Sticky toffee it wasn't, tasted like cinnamon cake with dates in. Overall, weird food and not the best service - sorry.

The restaurant ambience was superb, properly lit, heated and spacious. Attentive staff who checked in regularly with you. I got the beef 🍔 which I found a little bit disappointing as beef patee was was smaller than the brioche bun. The fries were really very average however, the wings were very tasty.

Stayed at Gleeson's many times and they never fail to provide 5 star services throughout, the staff ,the food, the rooms and the owners can't do enough for you and nothing is to much trouble, it's in an ideal position in centre of town with ample parking,we would never think of staying anywhere else, and a great pint of Guinness.

Clean room with comfortable bed and modern bathroom in a very central location. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was outstanding but I was not inspired to dine as I felt the pricing was high. Overall I would highly recommend.

we had lunch, drinks, room and breakfast. I am going to say that the hotel is faded charm and luxury - but that is not a criticism. The overall effect is homely and warm and welcoming. I heard that they are redoing the bathrooms, and although that is great I do hope they don't make them characterless and sterile. That would be a completely alien effect to the rest of the hotel. if you're looking for corporate, faceless luxury this isn't for you. if you're looking for a warm, genuine, human welcoming space it very much is. Lunch was ok. the steak, medium rare was much more rare than medium. The lasagne had one sheet of lasagne pasta, no layers and was far too tomatoey for my taste but others may have liked it. the portion was also small. Breakfast was a very familiar menu. there was fruit and water on the bar to help yourself. however there was no help yourself cereal, or fruit juices or diced fruit. scrambled eggs were nice and the brown bread - which i think is their own - was delicious. Parking was an issue, there just isn't enough. Although there were electric charging points. I'd like there to be 3 and a half stars to represent good, its not very good due to the parking shortage and the food not being anything other than average.

Worth booking table for dinner, we had to go next door, rooms are okay clean but not modern for the price. Building is lovely and has great open air area in front to sit out in. Staff are very nice and friendly.
