Great Southern Killarney in Killarney

Stayed in the hotel with Gate 1 travela group in 1st week of may 2025. Room was clean but there was no air conditioning in the room and it was pretty warm and uncomfortable even after opening the windows. However, Tennyson was very helpful and got us 2 fans for air circulation and light blankets instead of the thick comforter. This helped a lot to cool down the room and get a good night's sleep. Tennyson is very professional and provided excellent service through out our stay. He is an asset to your hotel! Thank you, Praveen

The Great Southern Killarney is elegant, charming, and perfectly located near town. Sean greeted us warmly, shared wonderful stories, and arranged a fun jaunting car ride through Killarney National Park with Mike, who was humorous and very knowledgeable. Bibi was attentive and kind each morning during breakfast, which was fantastic. Diedra at the front desk was helpful and efficient. Overall, a fantastic stay with attentive staff—highly recommended! Thanks to Jody at Ireland Family Vacations for suggesting Great Southern.

A couple complaints are that the lighting was horrible for a woman trying to put her make-up on and do her hair. Also, the rooms / the hotel in general was freezing. My mom ask the girl at the front desk to warm up her room and she said she would but Mom didn't find a difference in the temp. Otherwise the experience was over all good. Bibi in the restaurant was awesome! I have a corn allergy and she went out of her way to make sure there was no corn in my meal! She also filled my thermos with ice and water both mornings we were there. I definitely appreciated her! Everyone else was very friendly and very accommodating!

The best breakfast I’ve had in Ireland! Bibi Josy and Aaron were so great! Their service was terrific. Rooms are very nice, didn’t know they didn’t have air conditioning but they provided us fans and the windows open and it felt great! Nicest hotel we’ve stayed in a while! Very lovely.

We had a fantastic albeit too short stay at the Great Southern. A fantastic location which provides comfort and sophistication in equal measure. The piano music on Saturday night was a real treat. Also Sean at the concierge desk is a gem. We will be back.

Exceptional hotel, right in the heart of Killarney. My recent stay at the Great Southern Killarney was a luxurious experience from start to finish. The hotel exudes elegance and sophistication, and it's clear that attention to detail is a top priority. The staff members were incredibly courteous and helpful. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with an upscale lobby and fireplace, warm smiles and a genuine willingness to assist with anything I needed. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and throughout my stay, the staff was always available to answer questions, provide recommendations, and ensure my comfort. Several staff members, including the manager Maria, went above and beyond to make me feel like a valued guest. The hotel's location is ideal. It's situated in the heart of Killarney and walkable to everything in town; including restaurants/pubs, shops, Killarney National Park, Ross Castle , and more. Other Pro's, depending on means of travel... include the train station across the street and, simple accessible parking on site. It's also a perfect "home base" to enjoy your Ring of Kerry experience. The food at the hotel was also exceptional. Breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options, and Brownes gave a high-end, but cozy whiskey bar vibe. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a luxurious and unforgettable experience in Killarney. The combination of great service, delicious food, a prime location, and thoughtful staff makes it a standout choice. I look forward to returning in the future.

Absolutely in love with this hotel. First, the staff are fantastic. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Daria at the front desk who couldn’t have been more helpful. We wanted to make last minute plans and Sean, the concierge, gave us the best evening in Killarney we could have asked for! He immediately got us connected with a jaunting car ride and made us reservations at Cronin’s when we said we wanted to try Irish lamb. The facility is gorgeous and rooms were very comfortable. Coming from the US we tend to have a little trouble with the European style showers but these ones were foolproof. The buffet breakfast was spectacular. Lobby facilities were clean and comfortable too. We only stayed one night as part of a tour but can’t wait to come back.
