Hoky Poky Coffee Shop in Newbridge

The Hoky Poky was an institution, going there for decades. I understand new management want to put their stamp on things, but if it isn't broke, don't fix it. I've been a loyal customer, only going here when in Newbridge but I won't be returning sadly.

Menu changed and definitely the pricing. Good food but smaller portions and I missed my favourite dish as selection less. Service staff friendly and helpful.

Pity the place is gone now. Was by far the best cafe in Kildare, wonderful food

I have sampled the cuisine at a few local restaurants in Newbridge. Hoky Poky is down Charlotte Street inside a mini parade about half a block from the main street. I had to walk inside the center to locate it. They had a few interesting menu items but were out of several dishes including the lasagna which I wanted to try. The lady pointed out the remaing item including a chicken broccoli which looked tasty so I ordered. She said I could have 2 different salad sides. There were about 8 to choose from. I chose a coucous salad and a mixed broccoli salad both of which were appetising. The quality of the meal exceeded expectations. There were a few precocious children. One was about two and she yelled bye to me as she left. When I said bye back the whole family had a laugh. The meal was I think better value than the main street ones. I will definitely be back to this one soon.

I would recommend this place the service is excellent and very polite

The food's great, and the staff are mostly lovely, but the older grey-haired server seems really unhappy and dour all the time (always arguing with people), and it's quite off-putting, to be honest. When we see him about, my partner and I usually opt for a friendlier breakfast option, like Ubh or Dora May's.
