Think it's called the lightkeepers breakfast. Huge breakfast, including 2 slices of toast and tea/coffee all for €11.95. Really tasty and filling. Not many places left where you would get a big decent Irish breakfast for that price. Lots of tables inside and outside with stunning views. They also do great coffee, cakes, scones and full lunch menu (hot and cold, sandwiches made to order etc.) plus kids meals. A must when visiting Hook Pennisula and the beautiful lighthouse.

Love this cafe, visited the lighthouse and stopped in afterwards for a snack. The scones are HUGE and very fresh. My father in law had the chowder and loved it. Also good coffee!. The kids had cakes and crisps. This is my second time visiting and would definitely go back. The kids (8 & 4 yo) made some slate art with Rose just off the cafe while we were there. It only took about half an hour and they loved their slates. Highly recommend for kids if you want to entertain them while you are having your coffee.

Boss Byrne's Bar & Restaurant

20/05/2025: Nice spot, relaxed atmosphere and good service. Enjoyed dinner here recently, was delicious. Tasty chicken wings to start and a well cooked fish main. Wine is "on tap" so they are docked a mark for that. When the "bottle" arrived it wasn't quite cold enough. Overall, a nice spot for a few drinks and food though. Will return.
18/02/2025: Lock 13 is located in the heart of Sallins looking out at the canal. There is generally plenty of parking available outside and its also quite close to the train station (5 min walk or less). Staff and service are always excellent. The menus have a great variety with something for everyone and the prices remain very reasonable. The kids menu is unbelievable at €12.95 (ish) for 3 courses ! There is often early bird / specials depending on when you visit. They brew their own beer onsite and these are all excellent - worth the visit alone. They also produce a stout. However, the pint of Guinness I had there last weekend was hands down the BEST pint ive had in recent times - so good I had a second. We visit several times a year as a family and rarely if ever have had a bad experience.
