Hugo's in Dublin

The ambiance and atmosphere is incredible, service is professional and top tier. One of the best restaurants I have every been to. They deserve 10 stars.......

The food was tasty but as it common at this price range, the mains and the sides are separate items (and whilst very good in quality, the roast potatoes were small in quantity). The service was attentive, if not coming off at times as though we were an annoyance to them as it was a first time visit and we had questions on a few menu items and recommendations.

Unplanned visit but what a fortunate find for me as a solo diner. Must mention Greg the manager, maitre d, and source of local knowledge. He made me feel so welcome to this stylish eatery in Central Dublin. I visited on a Thursday lunchtime with no reservation, and he was able to show me to one of the high tables near the front door, while a steady stream of local business types arrived for their bookings, and a trickle of tourists. Greg welcomed each and every diner, taking coats and showing people to their tables. The menu at Hugo is based on classic French and Italian dishes, made with mainly Irish ingredients. I ordered the Chicken Liver Pate starter and the Wild Mushroom with Orzo main. The pate was light and meaty at the same time, freshly made and delicious. Homemade bread arrived in the shape of a little warm white bun and slices of Guinness wheaten, served warm with plenty of butter. There were lots of mushrooms in the Wild Mushroom dish and the rice- sized pasta Orzo was perfectly cooked. This dish could easily be overly-rich in the wrong hands but the Hugo version is full of flavour and not too heavy as a lunch dish. Definitely a venue for another visit. Lunch with a glass of wine came to €60. With food and service this good, and given the Central Dublin location, that's a reasonable price. Plus I was on holiday...

This is one of the best eating experiences in Dublin. The food is top notch, and reasonably priced for the quality. The atmosphere is lovely, and the staff friendly. Have been several times, and will surely be back for more.

Highly recommend this spot, whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple looking for a cute date night or a couple of gal pals. It’s the kind of atmosphere where you can comfortably hold a conversation. The food is excellent, the oysters and pâte are a must. The service/staff are incredible: friendly, professional, know their stuff and never make you feel rushed. I traveled solo here and they graciously served me for hours as I hung out, ate and drank. Vibes are on point, 10/10 recommend!

Just go there for a lovely night out. As far as I'm concerned it's the best restaurant in Dublin., better than Michelin star restaurants I've been to.
