Hugo's in Dublin

How did I get so lucky to choose Hugo's Restaurant purely by chance? I was looking for a place close to our hotel and landed here. What a phenomenal meal! I had the burrata & heirloom tomato starter while my husband opted for the crab with cucumber. Both were simply bursting with flavor - the burrata was creamy and the crab excruciatingly fresh. My husband had the braised shortrib main - oh, my sainted aunt, the complexity of the flavor of this deceptively simple dish was mind-blowing. I had the duck breast with figs & celeriac - again, perfection. We had a great deal of difficulty slowing down enough to savor each bite instead of the natural instinct to devour everything as quickly as possible. My pavlova dessert had lime crumbles, lemon curd, and blueberry sorbet, along with some fresh blueberries. My husband had the chocolate choux bun with "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate. It was the night before we had to depart for home, and we couldn't have asked for a more outstanding experience. The host (Robert?) was totally adorable and helpful, and Gina, one of the owners, came over and chatted with us - I could have cheerfully stayed longer but I had to get back to pack my suitcase. In a word, this is one of the best restaurants we've ever dined at, including Paris and a 3-star restaurant in Rome. Simply amazing. Absolutely book a table for a meal you won't forget!

Great friendly atmosphere. Quieter from the busy streets. The food was spot on and crafted to perfection. Brilliant breads and sauces. Good soup.

Very nice food, but it's definitely quality over quantity (I ordered the duck breast and was still hungry). My starter was small too, meaning I had to take dessert, and again it was OK, I wasn't blown away by the meal tbh. All in all the bang for buck wasn't there for me, there are plenty of over nicer restaurants for better and more affordable prices.

My daughter and I stopped at this lovely wine bar/ restaurant in the midst of our sightseeing. We were immediately greeted by Greg who felt like an old friend from the moment we met him. The wine list is wonderful, the small plates were perfect! We had the smoked mackerel which was divine. The window seat was a lovely place to rest and rejuvenate before our next event of the day. This will be a stop for me any time I return to Dublin.

Two of us had the duck dish and raviolo dish with scallops starter. It was the best duck I have ever had. In my personal top five meals hall of fame. The sort of dish that makes you desire a second helping. Our server was excellent. I ordered a wine and she brought two different samples to see which I liked better because most people preferred the one I had not ordered. She was right and I think the one she recommended may have been cheaper too. So not just upselling I think. Great place. Wholeheartedly recommend.

Myself and my husband were seated at the window which was special!. We are both vegan, which can be tricky in a lot of restaurants but not at Hugo's..a lovely choice of dishes and the food ..the textures and flavours were wonderful!..Delicious wine and cocktails..we had a fantastic wedding anniversary! The staff are warm and welcoming..the decor is beautifully decorated and cosy. Would highly recommend!

Amazing food and service. The schnitzel was perfectly moist and the mackerel had marvelously rich flavor. Lovely decor as well.

Great, amazing place which we visited with my husband during our several days stay in Dublin several times both for lunch and dinners. Awesome food and drinks, cozy, warm atmosphere, elegant design and amazing service. Special thanks to David for perfect, high quality and super professional service. The Hugo's is now one of reasons for us to come back to Dublin :).
