Hugo's in Dublin

Lovely meal and reasonably priced

From the moment I walked through the doors of Hugo’s, I knew I was in for something special. A friend had insisted that a visit here was an absolute must, and they could not have been more right. I was greeted warmly by Greg, who welcomed me with genuine hospitality and led me to a reserved window table that felt like the most coveted seat in the house. I began with the warm housemade Guinness treacle brown bread served with seaweed butter, which set the tone for what was to come. The soup of the day, a silky potato and leek, was simple yet exceptional. For my main course, I enjoyed the most succulent short rib of beef, cooked to perfection and full of flavor. I was completely satisfied, but there was no way I could leave without trying dessert. The pavlova was irresistible and absolutely worth it. Adding to the experience, Gina, the gracious owner, stopped by my table for a lovely conversation that made the evening feel even more personal and memorable. Hugo’s is more than a restaurant. It is a dining experience that embodies warmth, elegance, and excellence in every detail. Without a doubt, it deserves to be considered one of Dublin’s national treasures.

We came here for the early bird dinner, and it was excellent. My husband is still raving about the pannacotta, and the ribs, oysters, and white fish were fantasticly prepared and flavored. The service was great (I told our waiter I was lactose intolerant so I could figure out which dish to get, to which when he brought out our bread and butter, came back a few minutes later, quietly apologized, and gave our table some oil and vinegar as well). Would absolutely recommend!

We found this gem through Google search and was pleasantly surprised. Almost all dishes were tasty and the Guinness treacle brown bread is amazing one of the tops we had through 23 three days in Ireland. Service was impeccable and both gentlemen served us were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

Amazing restaurant. Service was lovely, food was beautiful and delicious. Even the coffee was tasty. We got free guiness bread to start, very good discovery. Just a great experience overall ! Would definitely recommend.

We had a great time at Hugo’s! We sat at the little window looking out on Merrion Row and ordered a bunch of little plates. Great paté, the croquette was incredible. Even the little bread plate with seaweed butter was exceptional. I put a big heart on this one! Gina was there and she gave is the scoop on the whole area. She was wearing orange glasses and brought an incredible energy to the space. She’s so much fun we’ll probably walk back during our trip just to visit again! Thank you Hugo’s!

I've been dying to.try here for years and had a bit of time so decided to treat myself to lunch. And what a treat. The slow cooked beef was perfection. Really lovely staff and the decor is so sumptuous. Thank you.

Magnificent meal. I'm from Switzerland and after my expatriation it was the first time I thought I was back home. I loved this restaurant. The main course was just perfect.

Our hotel recommended this spot for lunch, and I'm so glad they did. We walked in (a party of 8) without a reservation and were kindly accommodated with a quiet table downstairs in what is typically a private dining room. The service, drinks and food were all very good, and the ambiance was excellent.
