My wife and I fell in love with Hugo’s. You walk past a few stiff shirts down Merrion row and step into a bright blue entrance. You take in the classy yet cozy space. The smell is the first to hypnotize you, until a beautiful blond looks through orange rimmed glasses and welcomes you to her restaurant. Oysters mixing salt and sweet, creamy goat cheese salad all washed down with a local gin and tonic set the pace for an incredible meal. Staff recommended red paired with the tastiest lamb and monkfish was served as our main course. It was all followed by decadent chocolate and peanut butter cake a-la mode. Dessert was lovely conversation and the best recommendations by Gina to make this week unforgettable as we discover Ireland. We will be back!!!

Absolutely fabulous - service, food and ambience. We were there for my sister’s wedding day and it was beyond fabulous. Grace in particular was so attentive to everyone. Thank you so much for making my sister’s special day so wonderful!

This is a beautiful restaurant in a lovely central location. There is an extensive wine list and the service is very good. The food is well presented. Portions are very small. I paid €37 for 3 tiny pieces of monkfish which was the fish of the day. It didn't taste fresh and was overcooked. My sister had the cod and also said it was overcooked and not fresh. My niece had a beef dish which she enjoyed.

Hugo’s in Dublin is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in and were warmly welcomed by David, we knew we were in for a great night. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with beautifully designed interiors that strike the perfect balance between cozy and elegant—it all adds to the experience in the best way.
The food was incredible—fresh Carlingford oysters to start, followed by a delicious carrot & ginger soup, and a perfectly cooked steak that hit the spot. The drinks were just as memorable: the chianti was smooth, the elderflower spritz was super refreshing, and the 10-year tawny was the perfect way to end the evening.
The service was top-notch, and we were lucky enough to meet Gina, the owner, who was an absolute delight. She took the time to chat, shared some fantastic stories, and made sure we felt right at home. It’s clear she truly cares about her guests, especially the regulars she greeted like old friends.
If you're in Dublin and looking for a spot with amazing food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming ambiance, Hugo’s should be at the top of your list. Can’t wait to go back!

Our hotel recommended this spot for lunch, and I'm so glad they did. We walked in (a party of 8) without a reservation and were kindly accommodated with a quiet table downstairs in what is typically a private dining room. The service, drinks and food were all very good, and the ambiance was excellent.

Great restaurant where you feel good and where you eat very well!
Exemplary welcome, impeccable service and one of the best dishes I ate in Dublin: the beef rib with truffle mash! A delight (and it's rare to find a good puree outside of France 😏)
Pleasant and warm staff (despite my French accent) who knew how to make me forget the ice cubes in my cider! 😂
To make a long story short, everything was perfect and affordable in terms of quality, quantity and price.
I recommend +++
