16/05/2026: A great place to stay overnight. The rooms have been recently renovated. It was done nicely, but the finishing could have been checked over. There were paint residues and loose pieces of wallpaper. We had dinner in the restaurant. It tasted delicious. It is really worth it. Afterwards, you can walk right over to the pub located in the same building. Cozy and intimate with lots of locals.

12/06/2026: When we first entered the room, we were welcomed by a fish smell because the window was broken and the fumes from the kitchen were directly entering. We tried watching tv and couldn't because nearly all the channels were locked with a pin code that not even the manager knew. The water in the sink wouldn't drain. We tried to shower before bed but the hot water was shut off without prior notice. During the night, we were unable to sleep because all you could hear were the sounds of the pipes in the building that sounded exactly like a ship's horn going off every 10 minutes. We were left there wide awake to stare at the huge water damage stains in the ceiling. My partner suffers from epilepsy and sleep is more important for him than for the average person. At the price of 207€ for a night we at the very least expected to get a decent night's rest and that was not the case. We spoke to the manager and he told us he couldn't issue us a full refund. Only 20€. He said it wasn't within his power and that we'd have to go through Booking.com for a refund. Surprise surprise, it turns out he simply does not want to refund more than half. Very deceitful. This is place is more of a hostel.

10/06/2026: Recently had a two night stay here celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, top marks all round, lovely hotel, exceptional staff from Louise on reception to Olya in the restaurant and Paul the owner, all so friendly and helpful, great location, will definitely return and would highly recommend. 06/05/2026: One of just a few eateries open on a Tuesday evening during a slightly off peak season. The BR Bistro is easily accessible for a wheelchair and the owner/floor manager was most accommodating and helpful. This is a family run business and the owners serve on a 'front line' system. They obviously take great pride in their business and the eating experience reflects their dedication. The steak selection for the evening was fillet and for me, cooked precisely to my liking. Declining the chips option I was served tastily prepared baby potatoes as a side dish. Perfect! My wife's Prawn dish c/w Spanish chorizo was equally enjoyed. The husband and wife team were charming, friendly and very helpful. Our bill came came to €44 per person including drinks which we consider good value these days for excellent fare and proper, personal service. We chose this restaurant for the evening partly because of the limited choice available on the off peak season. We wish now that we'd have found it sooner. We'll be back to Carrick on Shannon in the future though and the BR Bistro will be our number 1 choice when dining out.

16/05/2026: Friendly service. Excellent meat dishes, but the vegetarian options are very limited and expensive. The busier it got, the louder it became. Unfortunately, there's only one toilet for everyone, and it's poorly lit.

21/04/2026: This place is so dodgy, the waiters are outside trying to get people inside. They speak like scammers trying to negotiate the prices of food. They hover around you as you drink and eat. All of this creates a really unsettling atmosphere. When we tried to pay they were pushing for us to pay with cash?! Hello it’s 2026 where’s your card machine. Do not come.

23/05/2026: Myself and my partner went for a meal this evening started off with the share combo for one each meat was good until we then came across muck in the leaves of our salad gave to the waiter she apologised and offered a drink on the house but we refused as we weren’t drinking and I am pregnant they then offered a dessert. Our mains then came out the duck was burnt and beef overcooked in curry. We gave up eating and weren’t feeling the dessert as we were very unsatisfied with starter and main. We asked for the bill and the waiter then cleared the table spilling curry sauce on my partners white runners. She did apologise but we were very disappointed with our full dining experience and can’t justify the meal for the price we payed. I wouldn’t recommend

Run by an extremely capable and friendly staff to especially the young Dublin girl from Ballymun. unfortunately I can't remember her name but I think she'll know who she is. We were at the Gettrick/Mulligan wedding on Monday 20th April 2026. Very well done yto all concerned. P.

07/03/2026: Classico is not what I expected. It’s not Classico at all. It’s like a sit in takeaway with little to no service and the food is mid. I did not enjoy this experience as I thought I was in for a right feast

17/02/2026: Excellent restaurant. Huge menu, something for everyone. Service was very good. I had the spaghetti al amatriciana and it was fantastic. I’m not an expert in Italian cuisine, but seems very authentic. It’s a good sign when they’re speaking Italian in the kitchen.

12/05/2026: Really disappointed with the food. Ordered the special and was presented with lukewarm plate of gunge. I sent it back. Staff were apologetic and asked if I would like to order something else, at that stage I'd lost my appetite. Shame really as it sounded amazing.

26/05/2026: The food was great, the service so so, but they tried their best. There just must have been a couple of new staff members. It had a South African twist and overall was tasty and a great experience. The surrounding location was obviously outstanding.
