01/09/2026: We stopped into Hugo’s last weekend on a whim for a glass of wine before dinner somewhere else, and pretty much as soon as we walked in, we wished we’d booked dinner here instead. The place has such a warm, cozy feel to it, with wine bottles lining the back wall, and after looking at the menu, we immediately regretted already having dinner plans. But what really made the place was the people. A special shoutout to Imogen, who was fantastic. I’m very much an Italian red wine drinker, especially Amarone, and she took the time to steer me toward a few French reds I probably never would have ordered on my own. She even let me taste them before committing to a glass, which I really appreciated. We only came in for a drink, but Hugo’s ended up being one of those unexpected finds you remember from a trip. Next time I’m in Dublin, it’s absolutely on my dinner list.

31/08/2026: Absolutely delighted by my experience here. From walking up you could see the outdoor seating and the views into the window tables. You enter and it feels like going back in time to someone’s home with a wine wall in front of you and gorgeous, textured wallpaper, plush cushion and both booth and chair and high top table options. The staff (Luke and Imogen) were welcoming and friendly. The menu was full of Delicious items. Since I was at Hugo’s I opted for a Hugo Spritz which I paired with their signature oysters to start, the soup of the day a cream corn chowder with Irish bread on the side and finished with a light pannacotta for dessert. I had a late lunch so not a huge appetite or I would have gone for even more. Great as a solo diner or a group. They had seating in the upper and lower dining areas. Plus the outdoors. Highly recommend and would return.

15/08/2026: Fantastic place full of authentic Irish atmosphere. The food is delicious, especially the fried mushrooms, but everything is delicious. The service is friendly, attentive, and fast, and it's a truly fun place! Highly recommended!

13/08/2026: Fantastic evening in The Snailbox as always. The food was amazing and the manager and staff so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back soon.

28/07/2026: Best cool mom and pop Italian cafe. Everything is fresh and homemade. Lovely owners Rebecca and Tony. We eat here all the time. Their Lambrusco is particularly good in summer heat of ‘26. Joint best coffee in Bray - Crêperie Chez Louis on the Main Street is the other.

25/07/2026: A peaceful place with exquisite Italian food. The staff is very friendly. Definitely a breath of fresh air, thanks to the authentic flavors and the bread with olive oil. Mamma mia! 😋

26/08/2026: First time dining here tonight Aug 2026, I had the duck and it was incredible, best flavor I've had in a long long time, will return for sure. The staff were fabulous Heidi, Amanda and Gabby 👏👏👏 They were all very attentive asking about allergies and if we had time pressures. Incredible service.

12/06/2026: When we first entered the room, we were welcomed by a fish smell because the window was broken and the fumes from the kitchen were directly entering. We tried watching tv and couldn't because nearly all the channels were locked with a pin code that not even the manager knew. The water in the sink wouldn't drain. We tried to shower before bed but the hot water was shut off without prior notice. During the night, we were unable to sleep because all you could hear were the sounds of the pipes in the building that sounded exactly like a ship's horn going off every 10 minutes. We were left there wide awake to stare at the huge water damage stains in the ceiling. My partner suffers from epilepsy and sleep is more important for him than for the average person. At the price of 207€ for a night we at the very least expected to get a decent night's rest and that was not the case. We spoke to the manager and he told us he couldn't issue us a full refund. Only 20€. He said it wasn't within his power and that we'd have to go through Booking.com for a refund. Surprise surprise, it turns out he simply does not want to refund more than half. Very deceitful. This is place is more of a hostel.

10/06/2026: Recently had a two night stay here celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, top marks all round, lovely hotel, exceptional staff from Louise on reception to Olya in the restaurant and Paul the owner, all so friendly and helpful, great location, will definitely return and would highly recommend. 19/07/2026: The food great here the have a student saver box. The sausages are all different and delishpus and so is there potatoes. the people make it too. Makes a huge difference when people are passionate about your food.

16/07/2026: We stumbled upon this restaurant while visiting Cork. My wife and children wanted to try it, and we weren't disappointed! The staff was very friendly, and the selection was impressive! The hot dogs were beautiful, large, and delicious!

29/07/2026: Very dissapointing food and cocktails. The service and ambience werr good, however in no way did they make up for the food. Dishes were poorly designed. The dishes were uninspiring with mediocre additions.

30/07/2026: I always come to Bookshelf for the scones—they’re my favourite in Cork, and I’ve always had a great experience here. However, yesterday I noticed a very unpleasant smell coming from the kitchen. It was quite strong and made me feel uncomfortable. I’ve never had an experience like this here before, so I hope it was just a one-off and that it can be looked into, as it’s a place I genuinely enjoy visiting.

25/07/2026: Delicious! I had the more traditional gluten-free grilled-Irish breakfast: GF toast, fried eggs, grilled tomatoes & mushrooms, and bacon (no pudding or sausage due to gluten). I also got the GF coconut and lime cake and a cappuccino: everything was all so good and no gluten-symptoms (I am a celiac, so more serious than preference, no reactions at all)! Thank you, Bookshelf, for taking the gluten-free cross-contamination seriously! Will definitely be returning!

18/08/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely fantastic Thai food at Siam Thai Restaurant in Malahide. The food was delicious, fresh and full of flavour, with a great selection of authentic Thai dishes. The service was excellent too friendly, attentive and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Being a Thai family, we know good Thai food when we find it, and this certainly didn’t disappoint! 🇹🇭 Lovely atmosphere, great service and excellent food. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend Siam Thai to anyone looking for a great Thai restaurant in Malahide. 5 stars all round! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

18/08/2026: Went yesterday with my child and we really enjoyed our food. We ordered a two starters, two mains and some dessert 🍨. The food was well presented,so tasty and plenty on the plates. The girls looking after us Maria and Andrea was so nice,polite and makes us feeling very welcome. Definitely we will be back again. Highly recommend this place to everyone visiting Malahide. Thank you so much for your hospitality ♥️♥️♥️

Run by an extremely capable and friendly staff to especially the young Dublin girl from Ballymun. unfortunately I can't remember her name but I think she'll know who she is. We were at the Gettrick/Mulligan wedding on Monday 20th April 2026. Very well done yto all concerned. P.
