Fantastic food and drink served up by the most pleasant of staff. Try it and see what a real hotel is like !!!

In my mind Ireland has lost so many things of beauty over the decades, but Hunters hotel has not changed since my first visit over 50 years ago. Having been brought there for my birthday luncheon where everything was every bit as good as I expected, even the weather which meant an enjoyable walk round the unique gardens.
While enjoying today's Sunday luncheon with relations, it dawned on me how nice if a group of actors could arrive and sit down at an opposite table in period costume and act as though they were part of a Mrs Marpole drama. Especially as the perfect atmosphere is in this wonderful timewarp of a place, to have a number such enactments during the year.

29.09.24 Time flies and everything changes, …but luckily Hunters is a place that has remained the same for as long as I can remember and my parents before me always said it had never changed in the years they frequented it.
It’s been 2 years since our last visit (time does fly) and from the initial warm feeling you get when you enter the front door, to the friendly welcome you receive, to then sitting in front of the open fire in lovely old arm chairs is just indescribable.
We love room 11 as well as the table beside the fireplace in the dining room for dinner. The staff are truly wonderful and so friendly and attentive. Hunters is a unique and authentic place, steeped in history and is one of a kind. The one and only Agatha C. would have felt very much at home here. Long may it continue like this.
We will be back soon again! Thank you!
March 2022: When everything is changing in the world it’s nice to see that a place like Hunters Hotel never changes. It is a charming old fashioned Inn/hotel filled with antiques, open fires and photos and pictures of a bygone era. Many related to Hunters itself.
It is exceptionally well run with very welcoming and friendly staff. We stayed one night including dinner and breakfast, all superb.
After dinner we returned to our room to find the open fire lighting and a hot water bottle placed in our bed. An unheard of touch in this day and age. The surrounding gardens are a delight and they even have their own hens for the free range eggs they serve at breakfast. We will be back.

Hunters Hotel in Rathnew is definately "Old school", as they say. Beautiful garden and outside area and comfy rooms. My wife and I booked evening dinner, bed and breakfast as we had celebrated our wedding anniversary there last year. The ambience was familiar as ever and the receptionist, Maureen, was as welcoming as before. Our room was clean and comfortable. Dinner was 39.50 for 2 courses, and 49.50 for 3 courses.accompanied by a nice We shared a starter of Goats cheese and pear salad and our mains consisted of Fillet beef and salmon. We had a side of red cabbage and green beans, which was perfect in quality and quantity. As for desert, my wife likes chocolate of any kind and I love apple crumble. The chefs here know their trade and guests sampling the creations are always happy. Our meal was accompanied by a nice Chilean red wine, Santa Digna, which was memorable. After a good rest, breakfast was another treat, fresh fruit and yogurt followed by bacon, mushrooms tomato and poached eggs. Altogether a wonderful experience at Hunters, and we look forward to returning soon.

Following a delayed flight I arrived very late in the evening. As soon as I walked in felt welcome. The service was 100% better than any chain hotel, the whole place is utterly charming and has a fabulous feel to it. I am looking forward to breakfast already.
