We walked up here from Hidden Valley for dinner and were so glad we did, excellent pub grub with a huge (smoke free!) beer garden out the back so loads of seating. Will visit again if we're in the area.

Det var lørdag aften og her var travlt, dejligt at se.
Vi fik god service og virkelig dejlig mad.
To hovedretter- steak sandwich med chips og en omgang cajun kylling med pasta og hvidløgsbrød.
Til dessert- death by chocolate - en lækker chokoladekage med vaniljeis og chokolade sauce.

While the customers all seemed local at the time we were there, we felt welcome in the pub/restaurant. Food and beer were very good. We had braised beef (resembling Irish stew) and the burger. Service was excellent.
23/03/2025: We went for a long walk in Avondale Forest and were just looking for a quick bite nearby. Man, what a gorgeous surprise! It was my son's girlfriend's birthday and we couldn't have stumbled upon better food. Creme of chicken had a lovely coconut twist. The pate was great. The starter prawns were spicy and full-flavoured. The steak was juicy, the burgers flavourful and the linguini fresh. Dessert menu was really good, everything fresh. We will definitely be back!
29/12/2024: We had a beautiful meal in Bates Restaurant. It was a lovely atmosphere, food delicious and service charming. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Deirdre Siobhan and Marian.
