James Joyce Restaurant in Mullingar

He went to Mullingar to get to know Niall Horan’s hometown, it’s a good place, little variety of food since it’s a buffet, but a pleasant atmosphere

This is a nice hotel. I rented a double twin room and I arrived later than anticipated. The woman at the reception was nice and helpful and I got my room right away. The hotel is complicated to maneuver while getting to the rooms but it has some nice featured rooms. It has a restaurant, a bar and a dining area for breakfast. And other areas that are nicely decorated. My room is nice and fairly large. One thing I noticed when I got into my room was that it was overly hot. Almost like a warm sauna. I looked at the radiator in the room to dial down the temperature and then I noticed that the dial was broken. I went down to reception and they offered to move me to another room. I declined and just opened the windows to let the cold in. Mullingar weather is nice and cold at the moment with plenty of rain so it helped to even out the temperature. The room is nice and the beds are comfortable. The table and chairs are a nice touch but a little cramped for the space. The bathroom is nice and clean. There are nice touches that make this hotel a nice place to stay. I highly recommend a visit.

It was ok until a drummer started practicing and a woman sounding like a banshee started practicing her "singing". We were served food which was tasty but no cutlery. Asked a manager for some and next time I saw him he was moving a chair. Ate most of dinner with fingers. Anyway fingers were made before knives and forks.

Plenty of car parking at the rear of the hotel. Check their website for room deals. Staff are polite, friendly and efficient and helpful. Clean and tidy rooms, with decent sized unsuited bathrooms.

Nice coffee ☕️ but no waggon wheels

Hotel located at city center, Easy access to go shopping and McDonalds and many more shops nearby. Only bad experience is congested rooms and no outside view from the rooms.

Had the greatest experience in the bar! Staff member Ronan was so helpful and kind!!! Very impressed !!

This is a lovely hotel in the town of Mullingar. Very well situated. It's like a tardis. Looks small from the front, but is big inside. Foyer, bar and dining room. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Parking at rear of property is gated and feels secure. Room we had was quite small but very well equipped. We stayed one night, but if we stayed longer I would have asked for a bigger room. Breakfast was included in price and was very good. Plentiful. We ate in the bar on the evening of arrival and the food was good. Value for money and the staff where attentive. Would recommend.

We went on a Saturday evening for dinner as a special treat. From the start the service was poor to say the least, we waited over 20 mins for our order to be taken, I noticed that there was cutlery missing on the table and we had to ask for this to be replaced over the course of the meal. At no point were we asked if everything was ok throughout the meal or even if we wanted more drinks etc. When it came to desserts, we waited another 20 mins to order, the restaurant only had a few tables occupied at this point as it was close to closing time and staff were setting tables up for the following day’s service so we couldn’t understand the delay. When the desserts eventually arrived, one of them was not what was ordered but there was no point in asking for this to be fixed at that point as we were sick of waiting as we were over 2 hours there at this point. We seen other tables seated after us, receive a more speedy service and left before us. Thankfully the food we ordered was delicious but what was meant to be special evening turned out to be a poor experience and we left disappointed and most likely would not return.

Went to the Greville Arms Jame's Joyce restaurant for my birthday dinner with my family. The food was all excellent.Steaks all cooked to perfection. Thank you to the chefs . But the service was absolutely dreadful. Ordered drinks Took 30 mins to come to the table. Waitress forgot about collecting them from the bar. .Staff not trained on how to serve or clear away .All very hap dash and no attention to detail. Loads of tables not cleared away at all around us...No restaurant manager around either.Which was evident on the night.
