We had excellent chowder soup, rich and very thick! The bread that accompanied it was also very good! I would gladly go back!

After visiting the Cliffs of Moher, we ate here. Everything was delicious, especially the soup of the day and the duck and sausage dishes. The waitresses were also incredibly friendly.

You will be doing yourself a huge disservice if you don't at least visit. The food is so delicious. I'm a picky vegetarian, so when I say The food is delicious... It tastes of clean flavour, freshness and culinary wholesome. I had the vegetarian curry, if I could have licked the plate, I would. My sister had the fish in a light and gentle crisp batter, flaked to fork with perfection, she also had salad, I ate that too, crunchy and seasonal, with coleslaw guilty of just been made. I can only imagine how good meat must be if such attention is given to the side. The Guinness is good, it tastes like more. I'm a Guinness drinker, and,it tastes like more. The staff are polite and friendly without all the tourist pleasing, over the top welcoming. There's outdoor dining,a smoking area at the back, toilets were clean, it's a well maintained pub and the music in the background could have been from my own playlist. From my experience,I'd be happy to recommend. Well done to everyone at Joseph McHugh.

We tried the soup of the day and the fish soup. The fish soup was simply delicious. It contained many different kinds of fish, even crab meat. However, this only cost around €9. There was also more fish than soup. So if you like fish, I would highly recommend this soup. The vegetable soup was also tasty.

A unique experience; from the street, it's an unassuming pub.
Once you've navigated your way through the typical pub bar area, you reach the spacious dining room; and if the weather is nice, there's an outdoor seating area. Lots of staff on a Sunday evening!
For the first time in days, I had something different for dinner than the usual tourist fare:
"Bangers & Mash" – a coarse sausage on mashed potatoes with an onion gravy.
Definitely try it if it's offered anywhere.
The other dishes looked delicious too.
At Joseph McHugh, be sure to check out the daily specials menu. There are many other typical Irish dishes to choose from.

Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Food was great. We were here last year with and came back again this year, which says a lot. Dog friendly which is a real bonus as we have a large breed dog that enjoys coming with us. Definitely recommend to anyone passing through.
