Brilliant wrap and salad, great portion and very tasty, made with care. Stay away from the goujons, a main of chips with baby portion of chicken at the side... Staff were very nice though so I didn't complain. But I don't know how the cook could even start to compare the two on a similar price.

I recently popped into CafĂ© La Alegria on a sunny afternoon in Ballybricken, and it truly lived up to its name â pure joy from start to finish! This little hidden gem at 25 Ballybricken is the perfect cozy spot, with bright, airy decor and lovely views overlooking the park that make you feel instantly relaxed.
I went for the classic avocado toast with poached eggs â fresh, generous portions, and absolutely delicious on that gorgeous sourdough. Paired it with a Lavazza coffee that was spot-on: rich, smooth, and one of the best I've had in Waterford. For dessert? A slice of homemade cake that was moist, flavorful, and impossible to resist â highly recommend anything from their pastry selection!
What really made the visit special was the service. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, but a huge shoutout to Jennifer â she was an absolute star! Super friendly, attentive, and made me feel right at home with her cheerful chat and quick recommendations. She even remembered my coffee order when I came back for a takeaway latte later. Places like this thrive on people like her!
Everything was reasonably priced, fresh, and made with care. Whether you're local or just passing through, this is hands-down one of the best cafes in Waterford â a true neighborhood favorite that brings happiness in every bite and sip.
Can't wait to return! Highly recommend â 5/5 đâ

CafĂ© La Alegria in Waterford, Ireland, stands out as one of the city's true hidden gems and, in my opinion, the best cafe for anyone seeking a perfect blend of exceptional coffee, homemade delights, and genuinely warm hospitality.Tucked away at 25 Ballybricken, this cozy spot immediately welcomes you with its charming, inviting atmosphereâbeautifully decorated, always warm and spotless, with a relaxed vibe that makes you want to linger. The moment you step in, you're greeted by the irresistible aroma of freshly brewed Lavazza coffee, which is consistently some of the best in Waterfordârich, smooth, and prepared with real care. The food is outstanding across the board. Their sourdough sandwiches (especially the Toledo or salmon and avocado options) are legendaryâfresh, generously filled, and toasted to perfection. The homemade pastries and cakes are divine; light, flavorful, and clearly made with love. Breakfast and brunch classics like poached eggs on muffins with hollandaise or hearty Full Irish options never disappoint. Everything feels reasonably priced for the quality, and portions are satisfying without being overwhelming. But what truly elevates La Alegria to the top spot is the incredible waiting staff, and Jennifer deserves special mention. She's an absolute starâfriendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about making your visit special. Jennifer has that rare gift of making you feel like a valued regular even on your first visit. She remembers little details, offers spot-on recommendations, and handles everything with a smile and efficiency that brightens the whole experience. The rest of the team matches her warmth; the service is always helpful, welcoming, and never rushed. My bucket list visit to Waterford, which means I now have been to every city in Ireland's 32 counties and in every county. The cheesecake I had here was the best I ever ate!
