La Fontana in Waterford

We where in Waterford for a weekend and we ended up to the "La Fontana" by change and we were lucky to find a table because they had a last minute cancellation, other wise it was fully booked. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was nice. We ordered pizza, and few starter. Our son asked a "Bolognese" and we had also 2 desserts. Everything was good and tasty. The bill was not so cheap, but we are talking about an Italian restaurant and the price is on the average for this kind of restaurant. Recommended.

As always la Fontana never disappoints both the staff and the food are too class

We have often visited this restaurant over several years and always enjoyed it. Parking sometimes difficult but table service is good. They move premises at end of December to corner of next block.

The pizza dough, cheese and tomatoes were delicious. The salt content of the ingredients was very good. The atmosphere is very sweet. Also the staff is friendly and sweet.

The food was superb, the service was excellent, polite and friendly, we wanted for nothing, they checked in with us just the right amount and as it was quiet they gave us a choice of table, offered to turn down the heating and checked if the music was too loud.

Honestly, it's a great discovery, so you can go there with your eyes closed. The service was great and the food was killer. If you pass through Waterford, take a look there.

This place is a real gem. It's welcoming, offers very friendly service and serves exceptional food. My wife's nut allergy was dilligently catered for and we felt as though we were in safe hands. We always find that a mark of a good restaurant is the quality of the bread and coffee. Both were top quality and our server was very pleased to see us mop up the sauce on our starter with the bread! That starter was the gamberi alla Fontana and is just a delight if like me, you love the taste of chorizo in top quality oil. We had the spaghetti allo scoglio and the tagliatelle mare e monti which were both fantastic. The creamy tomato sauce on the tagliatelle was not at all heavy and had a great lightly balanced tomato flavour. Perfect portion sizes too. All this was accompanied by a great Italian white from La Fontana's small wine selection. We rarely have dessert so skipped straight to espresso macchiato and warmed brandy. If you're concerned about not being able to get to sleep after a late night coffee, try the decaf - it was amazing! This place isn't cheap but we certainly didn't regret paying a little extra for such a wonderful experience. Judging by the fact that it was early on a Monday evening and it completely filled up, it seems that we're not the only ones who think that way!
