An amazing breakfast spot - plenty of option and lots of delicious coffee! We were served by the wonderful Aoife who was very helpful, chatty and also liked to have some fun. We had mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and she made sure to bring out a gorgeous birthday plate! Thank you Aoife - you made the day special! :)

The food is excellent but I keep coming back because of the attentiveness of the staff and the environment they create. Our 6 year old loves the ‘mocktail’ they make her, and on our last visit the manager went out of his way to find non-buttery, no salt potatoes for our 10 month old. We took my parents on the last night of their trip, and they felt taken care of and were delighted with their main courses. There is something for everyone and each dish is interesting and well executed. Sometimes I wonder why we’ve waited so long between visits!

Beware if you receive an email from OpenTable with an "Offer of the week - Pre-Theatre/Early Bird Special - €45". You are invited to "Book Now", but when you click the link you are NOT brought to the offer, but rather to the main page where you see a "Book Now" available for this evening from 18.30 to 19.30. To avail of the offer, you must scroll down to "Experiences" where the latest sitting is 18.00. PS 11/3/25 - Having read the restaurant's reply, I sense a genuine concern and feel that a One Star was overly harsh (given the obvious fault lies with OpenTable) so have upped it to Three Stars. I will monitor OpenTable to see if they act on the restaurant's representations as they have failed to act on mine over the last year! I note Layla's have now introduced a generous all evening deal on Tuesdays which I hope to avail of in the future.

Great athmosphere, food and even greater staff. Parking is tricky though but plenty to look around side street. Highly recommended.

The Brasserie

13/10/2024: We ate here as part of a tour, so we can't say whether the food wasn't specially put together for the group. The food was ok, but not special.

The Port House Cava

01/04/2025: I honestly wish I could give more stars. Tonight is the last night of vacation with my family and we scoured the internet looking for a place to have our last dinner. We are pretty obsessed with a tapas restaurant back home in Chicago, and looking at the menu and reviews we chose The Port House, Cava. Walking in it literally felt as if we walked into one of our own family members homes. There were a man and woman working (forgive me, I don't remember thier names) and they were so warm and friendly welcoming us in. We're traveling with our 8 month old and the man instantly brought over a high chair and helped my son into it, and even helped buckle him in. This has never happened in any other restaurant. High chairs yes but never have we had anyone so carefully assist our son into the high chair and make sure he was safely secured. We exchanged some small talk, he was amazing with my son (the entire evening) and both he and his co worker could not have been friendlier or more attentive to everyone dining. I am not exaggerating when I say it was like being in a family members home for dinner. And the tapas. Wow. Absolutely incredible. We ordered 6 tapas dishes and even the asparagus was perfection. Throughout our dinner I watched the restaurant grow busier yet the two working the front never wavered on thier hospitality even though they were both working thier tails off. Everything was utterly delicious (I highly recommend the grilled octopus) and my wife and I raved about the experience the entire way back to where we are staying. Even the ambiance of the restaurant is calming and welcoming which says a lot being on a busy city street. This is our second time in Ireland and if I had to recommend one place to definitely go check out it would be this one. Phenomenal food, great prices, incredible service. There is not one single negative thing I could say about the entire dinner. Thank you to the staff for making our last night in Ireland incredibly special.
01/04/2025: Our group of 7 had a great bottomless brunch on a Sunday. Food was tasty, sangria was delicious & the restaurant was surprisingly quiet. Interior is lovely. You'll need to walk some stairs for the toilet.
