Le Patisseria Di Angelo is one of those places that’s already humming with life before you even get through the door. My friend and I dropped in for lunch and both went for the Caesar salad, because we are women of taste and routine.
The salads arrived promptly, generously portioned and looking the part. The sauce was creamy with a decent zing — maybe a little too tangy for my own taste, but still very enjoyable. Between the crunchy croutons, crispy bacon, and heaps of romaine, it was a very respectable Caesar.
The real highlight was the atmosphere. It’s a busy spot with a kind of friendly chaos that makes you feel like you’ve been cast in the lunchtime version of an Italian drama set in Mayo. My friend and I had a ball — laughing away and soaking up the vibe like two hens let loose from the coop. In fact, we were enjoying ourselves so much — laughing, chatting, fully living our best lunchtime lives — unless you count me nearly inhaling a crouton mid-laugh — a very dramatic lunch exit narrowly avoided). A worthy way to go, really.
Special shoutout to the young waitress and waiter who looked after us — both were professional, kind, and actually seemed to like people, which feels increasingly rare in this economy. Their service was impeccable — unlike certain other nearby venues....
As for the bill? A cool €30 for two Caesar salads — now that’s value for money.
So if you’re looking for lunch with great service, a vibrant vibe, and a mild chance of crouton-related injury, Le Patisseria Di Angelo is well worth a visit.

Absolutely Delightful Experience!
My son and I visited La Patisserie Di Angelo two days ago, and we were thoroughly impressed. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff. The service was attentive and friendly throughout. The food was simply amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We were also pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices. A wonderful place to enjoy delicious treats with great service. Highly recommended!

Myself and my daughter visited today ( Easter Saturday) they were extremely busy but it was soooo nice, my daughter had pancakes and they were lovely and so fresh, I just had a scone, as had a big breakfast and we both had muffins, but I will return for the lovely sandwiches that looked delicious. The staff were all extremely friendly and we had a lovely young lad serving us. We will definitely be returning next time we're in Castlebar. A great find 👏🏻

Have been here twice now, but I’m not sure I’ll be returning. Sitting here currently whilst writing this due to the annoyance I currently feel. The food here is excellent—there’s no denying that. The cakes and desserts, in particular, are outstanding, so it would make sense for the team to focus more on upselling them at every opportunity. The service overall is good, but I feel it could benefit from some training, particularly in checking back on tables to ensure everything is okay and offering additional items like desserts, teas, or coffees.
What disappointed me most was after I had finished my meal, I sat for 10 to 15 minutes in a very quiet restaurant (only two tables occupied). During that time, the owner walked past my table without acknowledging me or asking if I wanted anything else. However, he did approach another guest—a better-dressed man—clearing his plate and checking in on him.
I actually intended to order a cake and coffee, but after experiencing what felt like unfair treatment, I decided against it. I currently work as an Operations Manager in a busy four-star hotel, and if my staff had acted this way, I would have been embarrassed. Regardless of how a guest appears, every customer should be treated equally, especially in an independent local business where service and reputation are key.
While I truly enjoyed the food, I believe improving consistency in service and avoiding judgments based on appearances would make a big difference.
